Abstract
En la presente descripción se proporcionan emulsiones de asfalto, métodos para formar emulsiones de asfalto y estructuras de pavimentación compuestas formadas de las emulsiones de asfalto. En una modalidad, una emulsión de asfalto incluye un componente de asfalto base, agua y un polietileno de alta densidad oxidado. El componente de asfalto base está presente en una cantidad de aproximadamente a aproximadamente 70 % en peso, el agua está presente en una cantidad de al menos aproximadamente 25 % en peso, y el polietileno de alta densidad oxidado está presente en una cantidad de aproximadamente 1 a aproximadamente 20 % en peso, donde todas las cantidades se basan en el peso total de la emulsión de asfalto. El polietileno de alta densidad oxidado tiene un valor ácido de aproximadamente 5 a aproximadamente mgKOH/g. La emulsión de asfalto está libre de agregado y otros materiales minerales.
