Abstract

Uso de una composición de sal de nitrato Z que comprende Z1, al menos un nitrato de metal alcalino y, opcionalmente, nitrato de metal alcalino térreo, y también Z2, al menos un nitrito de metal alcalino y, opcionalmente, nitrito de metal alcalino térreo en una cantidad de Z2 en el intervalo de 1.1 a 15.0 en % en moles con base en la suma Z1 más Z2 como el medio de transferencia de calor o almacenamiento de calor en aparatos donde estos medios de transferencia de calor o almacenamiento de calor están comprendidos a una temperatura en el intervalo de 500 a 620°C y una presión parcial de oxígeno sobre la composición de sal de nitrato en el intervalo de 0.1 a 1.0 atm, caracterizada porque es para una temperatura deseada seleccionada del intervalo mencionado anteriormente y para una presión parcial de oxígeno deseada seleccionada en el intervalo mencionado anteriormente, la cantidad molar del nitrito de metal alcalino y, opcionalmente, nitrito de metal alcalino térreo se calcula por medio de la siguiente fórmula (fórmula I) (ver Fórmula) (I) donde las variables tienen los siguientes significados: xnitrito es la fracción molar de nitrito en una mezcla de nitrito/nitrato, K6(T) es la constante de equilibrio dependiente de la temperatura de la reacción de (fórmula II) (ver Fórmula) (II) oxígeno (fórmula III) (ver Fórmula) (III) pO2 es la presión parcial de oxígeno y T es la temperatura de la composición de sal de nitrato, y el valor calculado de la concentración molar del componente Z2 se reduce opcionalmente en 40% o aumenta en 20% y la composición de sal de nitrato Z se calienta a una temperatura de operación máxima en el intervalo de 500 a 620°C en la primera puesta en marcha de dichos aparatos.
