Abstract

La presente invención se relaciona a la detección de enfermedades respiratorias mediante el uso de marcadores moleculares como herramienta pronóstico de la evolución de cuadros de infección respiratoria. Concretamente durante el diagnóstico diferencial de infecciones respiratorias causadas por el Virus Respiratorio Sincitial y el Metapneumovirus humano, se establecerá el patrón de expresión de los marcadores de severidad de IL-3, IL-33 e IL12p40. Los patrones de expresión de los marcadores moleculares pueden determinarse en muestras biológicas mediante ensayos de ELISA, cartometría de flujo o PCR en tiempo real. La confirmación del agente etiológico de la infección en combinación con la determinación del patrón de los marcadores moleculares IL-3, IL-33 e IL12p40 indicarán un pronóstico de severidad de la enfermedad.
