Abstract

Un método que produce ácido acético e incluye un paso de reacción, un primer paso de purificación, un segundo paso de purificación, y un tercer paso de purificación; en el paso de reacción, una mezcla de material que incluye metanol, monóxido de carbono, un catalizador, y un yoduro se somete a una reacción de carbonilación de metanol en un reactor (1) para formar ácido acético; en el primer paso de purificación, una corriente de ácido acético crudo que incluye ácido acético formado en el paso de reacción se somete a destilación en una columna de destilación (3) para dar un primer corriente de ácido acético enriquecido con ácido acético; en el segundo paso de purificación, la primera corriente de ácido acético se somete a destilación en una columna de destilación (5) para dar una segundo corriente de ácido acético enriquecida más con ácido acético; en el tercer paso de purificación, una corriente de ácido acético se somete a purificación en una unidad de purificación adicional (por ejemplo una columna de destilación (6)) mientras se controla la concentración corrosiva de yodo en la corriente de ácido acético que pasa a través de la unidad a 100 ppm o menos, para dar una tercera corriente de ácido acético aún más enriquecida con ácido acético; el método para producir ácido acético es adecuado para restringir la corrosión del equipo de producción de ácido acético.
