Abstract
Se describe un proceso eficiente, escalable y de energía para la preparación de nanofibras de celulosa. El proceso emplea el tratamiento del material celulósico con una primera refinadora mecánica con láminas que tienen una configuración de hojas separadas por ranuras, y posteriormente tratar el material con un segundo refinadora mecánico con láminas que tiene una configuración de hojas separadas por ranuras diferentes que la primera refinadora. Las configuraciones de láminas y operaciones de tratamiento se seleccionan de tal manera que la primera refinadora produzca una primera SEL que es mayor a la SEL de la segunda refinadora, de hasta 2-50 veces. Un ejemplo de primera SEL alta puede estar dentro del intervalo de 1.5 a 8 J/m. Los productos de papel fabricados con aproximadamente 2% de nanofibras de celulosa sobre 30% con una longitud de aproximadamente 0.2 mm a aproximadamente 0.5 mm, preferiblemente de 0.2 mm a aproximadamente 0.4 mm han mejorado las propiedades.
