Abstract

Esta invención se refiere a un método para mejorar la selectividad de 1,1,3-tricloropropeno (HCC-1240za) y/o 3,3,3-tricloropropeno (HCC-1240zf) en la deshidro-cloración de 1,1,1,3- tetracloropropano (HCC-250fb). En la práctica normal, FeC13 se utiliza como el catalizador para la deshidrocloración de HCC-250fb para producir 1,1,3-tricloro- propeno y/o 3,3,3-tricloropropeno. En la presente invención la mejora comprende, usando como material de partida, una mezcla que comprende HCC-250fb y Heavies generados a partir de la reacción de CCI4 y etileno para producir HCC-250fb, en el que los Heavies comprenden uno o más isómeros tetracloropentano. Estos compuestos reducen o eliminan la formación de compuestos de punto de ebullición altos no deseados (HBC).
