Abstract

La presente invención se refiere de manera general a un adsorbente compuesto que comprende por lo menos un adsorbente de remoción de CO2 que contiene zeolita y el 10% o más de un óxido metálico que tiene una capacidad de calor de por lo menos 20 cal/mol-°K (83.7 J/(mol?K). El compuesto, preferentemente es utilizado en un sistema de adsorción de capas múltiples en un proceso de adsorción cíclico El sistema de adsorción comprende dos o más capas, en donde la primera capa es por lo menos un adsorbente de remoción de vapor de agua, tal como alúmina activada, y la segunda capa es el adsorbente compuesto novedoso. El sistema de adsorción se utiliza preferentemente en un proceso de purificación previa de PSA antes de una separación de aire criogénica.
