Abstract
En un aspecto, la presente solicitud describe un gen quimérico que comprende (a) una primera secuencia de ácido nucleico que comprende por lo menos 400 nucleótidos consecutivos de SEQ ID NO: 1 o SEQ ID NO: 2 o una secuencia de ácido nucleico que tiene por lo menos 80% de identidad de secuencia al mismo cualquiera de las cuales confiere inducibilidad de estrés sobre dicho gen quimérico; (b) una segunda secuencia de ácido nucleico que codifica un producto de expresión de interés, que está implicado en la respuesta de una planta de algodón al estrés; y opcionalmente (c) una secuencia de terminación de transcripción y poliadenilación; en otro aspecto, la solicitud describe una célula de planta de algodón que comprende (a) un gen quimérico que comprende una primera secuencia de ácido nucleico que comprende por lo menos 400 nucleótidos consecutivos de SEQ ID NO: 1 o SEQ ID NO: 2 o una secuencia de ácido nucleico que tiene por lo menos 80 identidad de secuencia a la misma, cualquiera de las cuales confiere inducibilidad de estrés sobre dicho gen quimérico; (b) una segunda secuencia de ácido nucleico que codifica un producto de expresión de interés; y opcionalmente (c) una secuencia de terminación de transcripción y poliadenilación; además, la presente solicitud describe una planta de algodón, un método de expresión de un transgén en algodón bajo condiciones de estrés, un método para producir una planta de algodón, un método para detectar la expresión de un transgén bajo condiciones de estrés y un método para modular la resistencia de una planta de algodón al estrés como se caracteriza en las reivindicaciones.
