Abstract
Un nuevo proceso para la preparación de xantenos yodados con alta pureza incluye un paso de ciclización seguido por un paso de yodación. No se requieren pasos de extracción, cromatográficos o concentración de solvente, y los compuestos intermediarios así como finales son aislados vía filtración o medios similares. El proceso requiere un solo solvente orgánico, y los pasos son efectuados a temperaturas inferiores a 100°C. La exclusión de iones cloruro, de radicales libres cloruro, iones hipoclorito, o ácido hipocloroso como reactivos o de reactivos que puedan generar esas especies in situ en presencia de oxidantes, evita la formación de impurezas indeseables. Han sido concebidos y aislados varios compuestos novedosos usando esos métodos. Esos nuevos compuestos también son transformados en nuevos medicamentos.
