Abstract
Se proporciona un sistema de tratamiento de aguas residuales de concentración baja que incluye un sistema de tratamiento de material adsorbente de flujo alto integrado con un reactor biológico de material adsorbente de flujo bajo. El sistema de tratamiento de material adsorbente de flujo alto incluye una o más operaciones de unidad para mezclar el agua residual de baja concentración con el material adsorbente que está fresco, reciclado, o una combinación de ambos, y para decantar un efluente líquido que tiene un nivel reducido de contaminantes. El material adsorbente con contaminantes adsorbidos se regenera en un reactor biológico de material adsorbente de flujo bajo en el cual se presenta una reacción biológica, tal como oxidación biológica, en donde los contaminantes orgánicos en el agua residual se metabolizan generalmente en dióxido de carbono y agua. El exceso de biomasa se elimina del material adsorbente, y el material adsorbente así regenerado se recicla al sistema de tratamiento de material adsorbente de flujo alto.
