Abstract
La invención proporciona métodos para mejorar el rendimiento de las plantas, particularmente, en condiciones de limitación de nitrógeno. De acuerdo con la invención, los solicitantes descubrieron que la modulación de la actividad de la ACC sintasa en las plantas mejora el rendimiento de las plantas, incluso cuando crecen en condiciones de bajo contenido de nitrógeno. Las mismas plantas, aunque demuestran un rendimiento mejorado con respecto a plantas no modificadas, no mostraron efectos perjudiciales en condiciones normales de nitrógeno. La invención proporciona, además, métodos para usar los casetes de expresión recombinantes, células huésped y plantas transgénicas.
