Abstract
Se provee un artículo que comprende fibras, también como un método para formar el artículo. Las fibras comprenden un componente de organopolisiloxano seleccionado de: (i) un organopolisiloxano que tiene la formula (R3SiO1/2)w(R2SiO2/2)x(RSi O3/2)y(SiO4/2)z (I), en donde cada R es seleccionado del grupo de un grupo inorgánico, un grupo orgánico y combinaciones de los mismos, w es de 0 a 0.95, x es de 0 a 0.95, y es de 0 a 1, z es de 0 a 0.9 y w + x + y + z = 1 y (ii) un producto curado del organopolisiloxano que tiene la fórmula (1) y combinaciones de (i) y (ii), a condición de que las fibras estén libres de polímeros orgánicos, copolímeros orgánicos y copolímeros de organosiloxano-orgánicos. El método de formación del artículo incluye la etapa de formación de fibras a partir de una composición. La composición usada para formar las fibras comprende el organopolisiloxano que tiene fórmula (1), a condición de que la composición esté libre de polímeros orgánicos, copolímeros completamente orgánicos y copolímeros de organosiloxano-orgánicos. El artículo exhibe hidrofobicidad y resistencia al fuego maximizada.
