Abstract

La presente invención describe un método para inhibir una respuesta al etileno en una planta, que comprende el paso de aplicar a al menos una fracción de la planta, una cantidad efectiva que inhibe la respuesta al etileno de una sal del ácido H1-ciclopropen-1-propanoico (CPAS). Se presenta un método para prolongar la vida de una flor cortada, que comprende aplicar a la flor cortada una cantidad efectiva que prolonga la vida de CPAS y un método para la producción de una CPAS, que comprende los pasos de (i) preparar el ácido 4-bromo-4-pentenoico derivados del mismo; (ii) producir el ácido 1-ciclopropen-1-propanoico y (iii), convertir este ácido en su sal soluble en agua, especialmente su sal de sodio. Además, se describe una nueva familia de inhibidores de CPAS solubles en agua para la respuesta al etileno en una planta.
