Abstract

La presente invencion se refiere a un metodo para ajustar un valor optimo de un nivel de potencia de escritura para uso en un aparato de grabacion optico para escribir informacion en una capa de grabacion (3) de un medio de grabacion optica (1) por medio del haz de radiacion (5). La capa de grabacion es capas de cambiar entre un estado amorfo y un estado cristalino. El aparato comprende una fuente de radiacion (4) para emitir el haz de radiacion (5) que tiene un valor controlable de un nivel de potencia de escritura (Pw) para grabar informacion sobre el medio de grabacion, una Unidad de control (12), para grabar una serie de patrones de prueba en un area de prueba sobre la capa de grabacion, cada patron de prueba es grabado con un valor diferente del nivel de potencia de escritura, una unidad de lectura (90) para leer los patrones y formar porciones de senal de lectura correspondientes, y primeros medios (10, 101, 102), para derivar un valor de un parametro de lectura de al menos, una porcion de senal de lectura y ajustar un valor optimo (Popt) del nivel de potencia de escritura, basado en los valores de este parametro de lectura. De conformidad con la invencion, el aparato ademas comprende segundos medios para realizar al menos una etapa inicial (40) para al menos parcialmente amorfizar y subsecuentemente recristalizar la capa de grabacion. De esta forma, se obtiene un resultado consistente para el valor optimo determinado (Popt) del nivel de potencia de escritura (Pw).
