Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un método para producir una estructura de cerámica de autosoporte que comprende (i) un substrato de cerámica obtenido por oxidación de un metal madre para formar un material policristalino y (ii) una región de superficie protectora sobre por lo menos una porción de la superficie de substrato de cerámica, teniendo dicha región de superficie protectora un constituyente químico principal diferente del constituyente químico principal del substrato de cerámica, que comprende los pasos de: (a) calentar un metal madre en presencia de un oxidante a una temperatura por arriba del punto de fusión de dicho metal madre pero por debajo del punto de fusión de dicho producto de reacción de oxidación para formar un cuerpo de metal madre fundido; (b) hacer reaccionar dicho cuerpo de metal madre fundido co dicho oxidante a dicha temperatura para permitir que se forme dicho producto de reacción de oxidación; (c) mantener por lo menos una porción del producto de reacción de oxidación en contacto con y extendiéndose entre el metal madre fundido y el oxidante, y a dicha temperatura extrayendo progresivamente el metal madre fundido a través de un producto de reacción de oxidación hacia el oxidante para permitir que el producto de reacción de oxidación fresco continúe formándose en una entrecara entre dicho oxidante y el producto de reacción de oxidación previamente formado, formando así el substrato de cerámica; y (d) calentar dicho substrato de cerámica a una segunda temperatura, siendo dicha segunda temperatura suficiente para inducir por lo menos dos constituyentes del substrato de cerámica a reaccionar para formar por lo menos una región de superficie protectora sobre por lo menos una porción de la superficie del substrato de cerámica para formar dicha estructura de cerámica.
