Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un método para producir un árbol de levas de hierro templado, el hierro tiene una estructura de hierro blanco adyacente a insertos para templado en un molde para fundido y una estructura de hierro gris en substancialmente todas las regiones alegadas de los insertos para templado, el método está caracterizado porque comprende los pasos de montar o ensamblar un molde para fundido, de arena, que tiene una cavidad con forma de árbol de levas y también tiene insertos para templado adyacentes a las regiones de la cavidad en donde se desea el hierro blanco, preparar una carga de metal fundido de hierro fundido que tiene una consistencia de equivalente de carbono en la gama desde 3.3 hasta 3.85 por ciento en peso y agregar suficiente agente nucleante previo al vertido para llenar la cavidad del molde, para asegurar que el subenfriamiento del líquido residual que permanece después de la solidificación de la estructura de hierro blanco adyacente a los insertos para templado, permanezca arriba de la temperatura eutéctica del hierro-cementita previo a la solidificaación en hierro gris.
