Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un procedimiento continuo para fundir directamente materiales que contienen sulfuros de metales no ferrosos, que se caracteriza porque: a) la fundición se efectúa en un reactor que contiene zonas oxidante y reducta yuxtapuestas; b) los baños de escoria de las dos zonas están comunicados entre sí; c) los materiales son cargados al baño de escoria en la zona oxidante y se soplan gases que contienen oxígeno a la zona oxidante; d) se hace pasar una escoria que es rica en óxidos metálicos no ferrosos de la zona oxidante a la zona reductora; d) se sopla un agente reductor y gases que contienen oxígeno a la escoria de la zona reductora a regímenes respectivos tales que los óxidos metálicos no ferrosos son substancialmente completamente reducidos y se forma una fase que es rica en metal no ferroso; f) se deriva una escoria pobre en metal no ferroso de la zona reductora; g) se aspiran por separado los gases de las zonas oxidante y reductora; y h) las presiones subatmosféricas de las tuberías de succión se conectan a las zonas oxidante y reductora y se controlan de tal manera que se obtiene una diferencial de presión de cero adyacente al límite entre las zonas oxidante y reductora.
