Abstract

L'invention concerne la métallurgie. Le procédé faisant l'objet de l'invention est caractérisé en ce que le barbotage du gaz chargé d'oxygène 1 dans le bain de fusion et l'oxydation de celui-ci sont effectués en injectant dans ledit bain un gaz contenant au moins 35 % d'oxygène, avec une intensité de 200 à 2 000 Nm**3/h par m**2 de section horizontale du bain, de sorte que celui-ci se sépare en une partie supérieure soumise à barbotage et une partie inférieure calme composée d'une couche de scorie 4, d'une couche de matte 5 ou d'une couche de métal brut, chacun des produits de fusion étant coulé séparément par soutirage à la partie inférieure de la couche correspondante. L'invention s'applique notamment à l'élaboration du cuivre, du nickel, du plomb, du zinc à partir de minerais monométalliques ou polymétalliques.
