Abstract
1507941 Flash smelting OUTOKUMPU OY 4 July 1975 [5 July 1974] 28381/75 Heading C7D In a method of flash smelting finely-divided sulphide ores and concentrates, optionally containing oxides, the particulate charge is directed downwards in a reaction shaft entrained in air and/or O 2 , the gases leaving the shaft pass through a sedimentation zone, in which a melt of slag and matte accumulate, and into a rising flue, and the temperature of the molten particles entering the melt is such that endothermic reactions accur in the melt without any fuel addition, Examples relate to smelting a Cu/Fe concentrate to produce a Cu matte.
