Abstract
Un método y aparato para producir metales y aleaciones de metales a partir de óxidos de metal. El método y aparato es relevante en especial para laproducción de hierro a partir de mineral de hierro. El método comprende los pasos de: (i) reducirtotal o parcialmente mineral de hierro con un materialcarbonoso sólido, mediante la inyección del mineral de hierro y/o mineral de mediante la inyección del mineral de hierro total o parcialmente reducido y elmaterial carbonoso sólido en unrecipi ente de pre-reducción manteniendo una temperatura de por lo menos 550°C en el recipiente de pre-reducción y(ii) seguir reduciendo el mineral de hierro para producir hierro fundido, mediante la inyección de dicho mineral y elmaterial ca rbonoso sólidoparcialmente desvolatilizado del paso (i) en un recipiente de reducción por fundido que contenga un bano fundido de hierro y escoria.
