Abstract

The invention relates to electrochemistry, namely to a process for manufacturing a combined volume-porous flow-through electrode and a process for electrolytic production of hydrogen.The process for manufacturing a combined volume-porous flow-through electrode, according to the invention, consists in that it is tightly combined a compressed volume-porous flow-through electrode of carbon-fibrous material with a volume-porous flow-through electrode of foam nickel, with the surface modified with a coating of nickel-rhenium or nickel-tungsten, or nickel-molybdenum alloys. At the same time, it is used a volume-flow-through porous electrode of foam nickel with the surface modified with a coating obtained by chemical-catalytic deposition of nickel alloys to the electrode porous surface from solutions.The process for electrolytic production of hydrogen, according to the invention, includes the electrolysis of electrolyte circulating aqueous solution through the combined volume-porous flow-through electrodes, which are placed in the electrolyzer between the main electrodes, which are connected to a constant-current source according to the electrolysis bipolar circuit. As electrolyte is used an aqueous solution containing potassium nitrate, potassium bichromate and a wetting agent. And as wetting agent is used sodium lauryl sulphate or 2-ethylhexanol-sodium sulphate.
