Abstract

The invention relates to biotechnology, namely to a process for astaxanthin extraction from microalgae biomass that can be used in microbiological, food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. The process for astaxanthin extraction from Haematococcus pluvialis biomass includes separation of biomass from the culture liquid, disintegration of biomass cellular walls, treatment of biomass with an organic solvent, agitation of the obtained mixture and separation of astaxanthin extract by centrifugation.Novelty of the invention consists in that disintegration of biomass cellular walls is carried out mechanically into a homogenizer, as solvent is used 96% ethyl alcohol, cooled up to the temperature of 0°C, and agitation is carried out on a mechanical orbital agitator, during 5…10 min.
