Abstract
본 발명은 쌍안정하게 스위칭되는 상태를 갖는 네마틱 액정 장치를 제공한다. 장치는 전극 구조를 수반하고, 네마틱 액정 재료의 층을 감싸고 있는 두 개의 셀벽을 구성한다. 이중격자는 액정분자가 표면에서 한 방향으로 정열되는 종래의 표면에 액정 분자를 두 개의 다른 각 방향, 예를들어, 45°또는 90°떨어진 각 방향을 놓이게 하는 모양의 표면이다.

Claims (13)
- 액정 재료층을 둘러싸는 2개의 셀벽, 2개의 벽상의 전극 구조체, 액정 분자에 대해 정렬된 방향을 제공하는 2개의 셀벽상의 표면 정렬 및 액정 재료의 스위칭된 상태 사이를 구별하는 수단을 포함하는 쌍안정 네마틱 액정 장치에 있어서, 적절한 전기 신호가 전극상에 적응될 때, 2개의 다른 각 형성 정렬 방향을 선택하도록 액정 분자를 허용하는 하나 이사의 셀상의 표면 정렬 이중격자를 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 쌍안정 네마틱 액정 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 각각의 이중격자는 이중격자의 상대 에너지(A)가 0.8 보다 크고 1.2보다 작은 즉,0.8<A,1.2를 갖는 프로필을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 쌍안정 네마틱 액정 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 양 셀벽은 이중격자를 갖고, 양 셀벽의 2개의 정렬 방향은 서로 일치되는 것을 특징으로 하는 쌍안정 네마틱 액정 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 하나의 셀벽에는 이중격자 정열이 제공되고, 다른 셀벽에는 단일의 정열 방향이 이중격자의 2개의 허용된 정열 방향 사이에 놓이는 단안정 단일 정열 방향 트리트먼트가 제공되는 것을 특징으로 하는 쌍안정 네마틱 액정 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 하나 이상의 이중격자는 하나 이상의 비대칭 격자 프로필을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 쌍안정 네마틱 액정 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 하나 이상의 이중격자는 하나 이상의 대칭 격자 프로필을 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 쌍안정 네마틱 대칭 장치.
- 제5항에 있어서, 셀벽상의 비대칭 정열의 방향은 대향 방향으로 서로 대향된 것을 특징으로 하는 쌍안정 네마틱 대칭 장치.
- 제5항에 있어서, 셀벽상의 비대칭 정열의 방향은 대향 방향으로 서로 대향된 것을 특징으로 하는 네마틱 대칭 장치.
