Abstract
본 발명은 사용자로 하여금 다수의 기능 카드중 하나가 에러 신호를 송출하였는지를 확인할 수 있게 하는 컴퓨터 시스템을 제공한다. 에러 신호를 송출한 장치는 격리되고 에러 복구 기법(또는 재초기화)이 에러 상태를 갖는 장치상에만 구현된다. 컴퓨터 시스템은 다른 정보 버스와 I/O, 메모리 등과 같은 특정 기능을 수행하는 기능 카드를 수납하는 적어도 한 개의 커낵터 슬롯을 상호접속하는 브리지 칩과 함께, 부가적인 제어 논리회로를 포함한다. 에러 신호가 존재한다고 판단되면, 시스템 하드웨어는 에러 신호를 송출한 장치에 리셋 신호를 활성화시켜 유지한다. 또한, 브리지 칩내의 레지스터내 상태 비트가 세트된다. 이어서 에러 신호를 송출한 장치에 대응하는 장치 드라이버가 상태 비트를 판독하여 에러가 발생했음을 확인한 후 브리지를 리셋하고, 에러 상태를 갖는 장치만을 리셋하거나 초기화한다.

Claims (16)
- 데이타 처리 기능을 구현하는 다수의 기능 카드; 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 에러 신호를 송출한 특성 기능 카드를 식별하는 수단 및; 나머지 다수의 기능 카드가 상기 데이타 처리 액티비티를 계속하는 동안 상기 다수의 기능카드중 상기 기능카드를 리셋하는 수단을 포함하는 컴퓨터 시스템.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 시스템은 상기 다수의 기능 카드에 각각 대응하며 상기 기능 카드를 CPU에 상호접속시키는 다수의 인터페이스 수단 및; 상기 인터페이스 수단내에서, 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 대응하는 기능 카드가 에러 신호를 송출했는지를 표시하는 수단을 포함하는 컴퓨터 시스템.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 식별 수단은 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 상기 에러 신호를 송출하는 상기 기능카드에 의한 데이타 처리 기능을 실행하라는 모든 요구를 무시하는 수단 및; 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 상기 에러 신호를 송출하는 상기 기능카드와 시스템 메모리간의 임의의 직접 메모리 액세스(direct memory access)오퍼레이션을 중지(abort)시키는 수단을 포함하는 컴퓨터 시스템.
- 제3항에 있어서, 상기 리셋 수단은 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 어떤 기능카드가 상기 에러 신호를 송출하였는지를 판단하는 수단 및; 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 상기 에러 신호를 송출한 상기 기능카드를 재구성하는 수단을 포함하는 컴퓨터 시스템.
- 제4항에 있어서, 상기 재구성 수단은 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 상기 에러 신호를 송출한 상기 기능카드를 재초기화하는 수단을 포함하는 컴퓨터 시스템.
- 제5항에 있어서, 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 상기 에러 신호를 송출한 상기 기능카드상의 에러상태를 처리하는 에러 복구루틴을 호출하는 수단 및; 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 상기 기능 카드상에 상기 데이타 처리 액티비티를 재실행하는 수단을 포함하는 컴퓨터 시스템.
- 제6항에 있어서, 상기 표시 수단은 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 대응하는 기능카드에 의해 에러신호가 송출되었는지를 표시하는 상태 비트를 저장하는 레지스터인 컴퓨터 시스템.
- 제7항에 있어서, 상기 판단 수단은 상기 레지스터를 플링하는 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 한 개의 기능카드에 대응하는 장치 드라이버인 컴퓨터 시스템.
- 데이타 처리 기능을 실행하는 다수의 기능 카드중 한 개의 기능카드를 격리하는 방법에 있어서, 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 에러 신호를 송출한 특정 기능카드를 식별하는 단계 및; 나머지 다수의 기능 카드가 데이타 처리 액티비티를 계속하는 동안 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 상기 기능카드를 리셋하는 단계를 포함하는 기능카드 격리 방법.
- 제9항에 있어서, 상기 방법은 상기 다수의 기능 카드에 각각 대응하며 상기 기능 카드를 CPU와 상호접속하기 위한 다수의 인터페이스 수단을 제공하는 단계 및; 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 대응하는 기능카드가 에러를 송출했는지 여부를 상기 인터페이스 수단에 의해 표시하는 단계를 포함하는 기능카드 격리 방법.
- 제10항에 있어서, 상기 식별 단계는 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 상기 에러 신호를 송출하는 상기 기능카드에 의해 데이타 처리 기능을 실행하라는 모든 요구를 무시하는 단계 및; 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 상기 에러신호를 송출하는 상기 기능카드와 시스템 메모리간의 임의의 직접 메모리 액세스 오퍼레이션을 중지시키는 단계를 더 포함하는 기능카드 격리 방법.
- 제11항에 있어서, 상기 리셋 단계는 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 어느 기능카드가 에러 신호를 송출했는지를 판단하는 단계 및; 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 상기 에러 신호를 송출한 상기 기능카드를 재구성하는 단계를 포함하는 기능카드 격리 방법.
- 제12항에 있어서, 상기 재구성 단계는 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 상기 에러 신호를 송출한 상기 기능카드를 재초기화하는 단계를 포함하는 기능카드 격리 방법.
- 제13항에 있어서, 상기 리셋 단계는 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 상기 에러 신호를 송출한 상기 기능카드상의 에러상태를 처리하도록 에러 복구 루틴을 호출하는 단계 및; 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 상기 기능카드상에 상기 데이타 처리 액티비티를 재구현하는 단계를 더 포함하는 기능카드 격리 방법.
- 제14항에 있어서, 상기 표시 단계는 레지스터내에, 에러신호가 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 대응하는 기능 카드에 의해 송출되었는지를 표시하는 상태 비트를 저장하는 단계를 포함하는 기능카드 격리 방법.
- 제15항에 있어서, 상기 판단 단계는 상기 다수의 기능 카드중 한 개의 기능카드에 대응하는 장치 드라이버에 의해, 상기 레지스터를 폴링하는 단계를 포함하는 기능카드 격리 방법.※ 참고사항 : 최초출원 내용에 의하여 공개하는 것임.
