Claims (4)
- 강유전성 액정 재료층의 한 측면에 배치된 제1세트의 전극(37)의 부재와 상기 액정 재료층의 다른 측면에 배치된 제2세트의 전극(38)의 부재 사이의 중복 영역에 의해 한정되는 다수의 화소(36)를 가지며, 상기 각각의 화소(36)가 상기 화소(36)에 걸리는 전압의 크기에 따르는 최소 지속 시간 동안 상기 화소에 인가된 전압에 의해 제1 및 제2광학 상태로 각각 스위칭될 수 있는 상기 강유전성 액정 재료층을 포함하는 매트릭스형 액정셀(30)을 어드레싱하는 방법에서, 스트로브 전압(±VS)이 상기 제1세트의 전극(37)의 부재에 직렬로 공급되며, 동시에 데이터 전압(±VD)이 제2세트의 전극(38)에 병렬로 공급되어, 상기 제1세트의 전극(37)의 소정의 선택부재에 대응하는 상기 화소(36)에 결과적인 전압(±VS±VD)이 발생하며, 대응하는 데이터 전압(±VD)이 각각 제1종류인지 또는 제2종류인지의 여부에 따라 상기 화소(36)가 스위칭 또는 비스위칭되는 매트릭스형 액정셀(30) 어드레싱 방법에 있어서, 상기 액정 재료는 상기 화로(36)에 걸리는 전압의 크기에 따르는 최소 지속 시간이 특정 전압에서 최소치를 나타내는 특성을 가지며, 상기 스트로브 전압(±VS)과 상기 제1종류의 데이터 전압(±VD)의 결합은 소정의 전압 크기(±(VS-VD))와 소정의 지속 시간을 가지는 결과적인 스위칭 펄스를 발생시키며, 상기 스트로브 전압±(VS)과 상기 제2종류의 데이타 전압(±(VD)의 결합은 소정의 전압 크기(±(VS+VD))보다 큰 전압 크기 (±(VS+VD))와 소정의 지속 시간과 동일하거나 작은 지속 시간을 가진 비스위칭 펄스를 발생시키며, 상기 비스위칭 펄스의 전압 크기 (±(VS+VD))는 특정 전압의 크기와 동일하거나 큰 것을 특징으로 하는 매트릭스형 액정셀을 어드레싱하는 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서, 상기 데이터 전압(±VD)은 전하 펑형 바이폴라 펄스를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 매트릭스형 액정셀을 어드레싱하는 방법.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 제1종류의 데이터 전압(±VD)은 상기 제2종류의 데이터 전압(±VD)과 상보적인 것을 특징으로 하는 매트릭스형 액정셀을 어드레싱하는 방법.
- 전술한 항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 상기 스트로브 전압(±VS)은 단극성인 것을 특징으로 하는 매트릭스형 액정셀을 어드레싱하는 방법.
