Abstract

본 발명은 액정표시소자에 관한 것으로, 특히 게이트, 데이타 드라이버의 시프트 레지스터의 구조를 개선하여 영상신호 변환장치 없이 디스플레이 모드에 따른 영상을 효율적으로 드라이버 디스플레이 하는데 적당하도록 한 액정표시소자의 드라이버 IC 구조에 관한 것이다.
상기와 같은 본 발명의 액정표시소자의 드라이버 IC 구조는 시스템 전체를 제어하는 시스템 제어부와, 상기 시스템 제어부의 제어신호에 의해 액정패널의 복수개의 게이트라인과 복수개의 데이타라인에 각각 화소구동 신호를 인가하는 게이트 드라이버, 데이타 드라이버를 구비한 액정표시 장치에 있어서, 상기 게이트 드라이버의 입력신호를 레벨 시프트하는 시프트 레지스터가 제1열 시프트 레지스터, 제2열 시프트 레지스터 이중으로 구성하고, 상기 데이타 드라이버의 1수평 주사기간 동안의 영상 신호의 샘플링 타이밍을 결정하는 시프트 레지스터가 제1열 시프트 레지스터, 제2열 시프트 레지스터 이중으로 이루어진다.

제1도(a) 내지 (c)는 일반적인 TFT-LCD 패널의 구조 및 특성도, 제2도(a)는 액티브 매트릭스형 액정표시 소자의 모듈구조도, (b)는 게이트 드라이버의 구성을 나타낸 구조도, (c)는 제2도 (b)에 따른 동작파형도, 제3도(a)는 아나로그 데이타 드라이버의 구조도, (b)는 디지탈 데이타 드라이버의 구조도.

Claims (5)

  1. 시스템 전체를 제어하는 시스템 제어부와, 상기 시스템 제어부의 제어신호에 의해 액정패널의 복수개의 게이트라인과 복수개의 데이타라인에 각각 화소구동 신호를 인가하는 게이트 드라이버, 데이타 드라이버를 구비한 액정표시 장치에 있어서, 상기 게이트 드라이버의 입력신호를 레벨 시프트하는 시프트 레지스터가 제1열 시프트 레지스터, 제2열 시프트 레지스터 이중으로 구성하고, 상기 데이타 드라이버의 1수평 주사기간 동안의 영상신호의 샘플링 타이밍을 결정하는 시프트 레지스터가 제1열 시프트 레지스터, 제2열 시프트 레지스터 이중으로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자의 드라이버 IC 구조.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 게이트 드라이버의 제1, 2열 시프트 레지스터에는 각각의 스타트 펄스가 입력되어 샘플링 타이밍을 결정하는 신호와, 영상신호 포맷의 변환에 따른 액정패널의 주변부 마스크 신호가 나뉘어져 출력되어 복수개의 AND 게이트에 의해 각각 논리 연산되어 시스템 제어부에 의해 선택적으로 출력되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자의 드라이버 IC 구조.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 게이트 드라이버의 제1, 2열 시프트 레지스터에는 각각의 스타트 펄스가 입력되어 샘플링 타이밍을 결정하는 신호와, 영상신호 포맷의 변화에 따른 액정패널의 주변부 마스크 신호가 나뉘어져 출력되어 복수개의 AND 게이트에 의해 각각 논리 연산되어 시스템 제어부에 의해 선택적으로 출력되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자의 드라이버 IC 구조.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 데이타 드라이버가 홀수번째 데이타라인에 구동신호를 인가하는 제1데이타 드라이버, 짝수번째 데이타라인에 구동신호를 인가하는 제2데이타 드라이버로 분리되어 액정패널의 상측과 하측방향에 구성되고, 게이트 드라이버가 홀수번째 게이트라인에 구동신호를 인가하는 제1게이트 드라이버, 짝수번째 게이트라인에 구동신호를 인가하는 제2게이트 드라이버로 분리되어 액정패널의 좌측과 우측방향에 구성되는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자의 드라이버 IC 구조.
  5. 제4항에 있어서, 게이트 드라이버, 데이타 드라이버의 제1, 2열의 시프트 레지스터는 서로 반대 방향으로 시프트 동작을 하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자의 드라이버 IC 구조.
