Abstract

본 발명은 오프(off)-상태에서 종이-백색을 갖고, 온(on)-상태에서 고도의 투명성을 가질 수 있는 키랄 네마틱 액정-중합체 조성물에 관한 것이다. 본 발명의 조성물은 일반적으로, 광 밸브, 특히 직접 가시 및 투사 디스플레이에서 사용하는데 적합하다.

Claims (8)

  1. 매트릭스 중합체; 매트릭스 중합체내에 다량으로 분산되어 있는, 키랄 네마틱이고, 양성적으로 유전체적인 이방성을 가지며, 특유한 반사 밴드를 가지는 제1액정 물질; 및 매트릭스 중합체내에 또한, 다량으로 분산되어 있는 키랄 네마틱이고, 양성적으로 유전체적인 이방성을 가지며, 제1액정 물질과는 상이한 특유한 반사 밴드를 가지는 1개 이상의 추가적인 액정 물질을 포함하는 액정-중합체 조성물로서, 전기장이 충분히 존재하지 않는 경우, 입사광을 반사 및 산란시키고, 전기장이 충분히 존재하는 경우, 실질적으로 입사광을 투과시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정-중합체 조성물.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 제1액정 물질 및 1개 이상의 추가적인 액정 물질의 정상 굴절 지수 no이, 매트릭스 중합체의 굴절 지수np와 실질적으로 동일한 것을 특징으로 하는 액정-중합체 조성물.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 제1액정 물질 및 1개 이상의 추가적인 액정 물질의 결합된 반사 밴드로 인해 액정-중합체 조성물이 400 내지 700mm에서 결합된 반사밴드를 가지는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정-중합체 조성물.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 가시 스펙트럼의 적색 영역에서 반사 밴드를 가지는 제1액정 물질 및 2개의 추가 액정 물질을 가지는 액정-중합체 조성물로서, 상기 추가 액정 물질중 하나는 가시 스펙트럼의 녹색 영역에서 반사 밴드를 가지고, 다른 하나는 가시 스펙트럼 영역의 청색 영역에서 반사 밴드를 가지는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정-중합체 조성물.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 다량인 제1액정 물질 및 1개 이상의 추가 액정 물질이, 각각 일정량의 우회전성 키랄리티를 가지는 액정 물질 및 일정량의 좌회전성 키랄리티를 가지는 액정 물질로 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정-중합체 조성물.
  6. (a)간격을 두고 우치한 제1 및 제2투명성 전극 및 (b)매트릭스 중합체; 매트릭스 중합체내에 다량으로 분산되어 있는, 카랄 네마틱이고, 양성적으로 유전체적인 이방성을 가지며, 특유한 반사 밴드를 가지는 제1액정물질; 및 매트릭스 중합체내에 다량으로 분산되어 있는, 키랄 네마틱이고, 양성적으로 유전체적인 이방성이며, 제1액정 물질과는 다른 특유한 반사 밴드를 가지는 1개 이상의 추가적인 액정 물질을 포함하는 액정-중합체 조성물로서, 제1전극 및 제2전극 사이에 위치하여, 전기장이 충분히 존재하지 않는 경우, 1개 이상의 입사광을 반사 및 산란시키고, 전기장이 충분히 존재하는 경우, 실질적으로 입사광을 투과시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정-중합체 조성물을 포함하는 액정 광 밸브.
  7. (a)빛을 생성하는 광원; (b)스크린에 빛을 투사하는 렌즈; 및 (c)매트릭스 중합체; 매트릭스 중합체내에 다량으로 분산되어 있는, 키랄 네마틱이고, 양성적으로 유전체적인 이방성을 가지는, 특유한 빈사 밴드를 가지는 제1액정 물질; 및 매트릭스 중합체내에 다량으로 분산되어 있는, 키랄 네마틱이고, 양성적으로 유전체적인 이방성을 가지며, 제1액정 물질과는 다른 특유한 반사 밴드를 가지는 다량의 1개 이상의 추가적인 액정 물질을 포함하는 액정 중합체 조성물로서, 렌즈에 도달하는 광량을 조절하기 위해 광원 및 렌즈 사이에 위치하여, 전기장이 충분히 존재하지 않는 경우, 1개 이상의 입사광을 반사 및 산란시키고, 전기장이 충분히 존재하는 경우, 실질적으로 입사광을 투과시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정-중합체 조성물을 포함하는 투사기.
  8. (a)흡광기 및 (b)디스플레이의 관점상, 및 흡광기 및 관점으로부터의 디스플레이상에 입사되는 입사광 사이에 위치하여, 입사광을 흡광기에 도달시켜 흡수시킬 것인지, 1개 이상의 입사광을 관점의 반대 방향으로 반사 또는 산란시킬 것인지를 조절하는 액정-중합체 조성물이, 매트릭스 중합체; 매트릭스 중합체내의 다량으로 분산되어 있는, 키랄 네마틱이고, 양성적으로 유전체적인 이방성을 가지며, 특유한 반사 밴드를 가지는 제1액정 물질; 및 매트릭스 중합체내에 다량으로 분사되어 있는, 키랄 네마틱이고, 양성적으로 유전체적인 이방성을 가지며, 제1액정 물질과는 다른 특유한 반사 밴드를 가지는 1개 이상의 추가적인 액정 물질을 포함하는 액정-중합체 조성물로서, 전기장이 충분히 존재하지 않는 경우, 1개 이상의 입사광을 반사 및 산란시키고, 전기장이 충분히 존재하는 경우, 실질적으로 이사광을 투과시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 중합체 조성물을 포함하는 디스플레이.
