Abstract

기록 장치는 MPEG 엔코더를 포함하고, MPEG 엔코더로부터의 압축 데이타 및 인덱스(전송 레이트 및 그 전송 레이트에 대응하는 필요 메모리 용량 또는 전송 레이트 및 레이트차 특성) 데이타가 다중화되어 광 디스크에 기록된다. 재생 장치에서는 광 디스크로부터 판독된 비트 스크림을 CD 디코더 및 CD-ROM 디코더에 의해 가변 비트 레이트 데이타로 변환한다. 가변 비트 레이트 데이타는 시스템 버퍼에 저장되고, 시스템 버퍼로부터 MPEG 디코더로 데이타가 공급된다. 인덱스가 마이크로컴퓨터에 의해 추출되고, 필요 메모리 용량과 시스템 버퍼의 용량을 비교하여 그 광 디스크를 재생할 수 있는지의 여부를 판단한다. 재생할 수 없을때, 광 디스크는 이젝트된다. 간이 재생의 경우, MPEG 디코더의 동작이 중단되어 있을 때, 출력 버퍼의 데이타를 반복 출력한다.

Claims (24)

  1. 가변 비트 레이트의 데이타를 기록 매체에 기록하는 기록 장치에 있어서 : 기록해야 할 가변 비트 레이트 데이타를 출력하는 데이타 출력 수단; 재생 장치에서의 기록 매체로부터 메모리로의 전송 레이트와 가변 비트 레이트에 기초하여 필요한 메모리 용량에 상관하는 용량 상관 데이타를 포함하는 인덱스를 출력하는 수단; 인덱스 및 기록해야 할 가변 비트 레이트 데이타를 포함하는 비트 스트림을 생성하는 비트 스트림 생성 수단; 및 비트 스트림을 기록 매체에 기록하는 기록 수단을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 기록 장치.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 인덱스 데이타 출력 수단은 상기 가변 비트 레이트 및 상기 전송 레이트에 기초하여 필요한 메모리 용량을 나타내는 용량 데이타를 출력하는 용량 데이타 출력 수단을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 기록 장치.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 인덱스 데이타 출력 수단은 상기 메모리의 전송 레이트와 상기 메모리로부터의 판독 레이트와의 차이의 시간적 변동인 레이트차 특성을 나타내는 레이트차 특성 데이타를 출력하는 수단을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 기록 장치.
  4. 제1항 내지 제3항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 상기 가변 비트 데이타 출력 수단은 동화상 데이타를 압축하여 가변 비트 레이트의 압축 동화상 데이타를 출력하는 엔코더를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 기록 장치.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 기록 수단은 상기 인덱스 데이타를 상기 기록 매체의 소정 영역에 기록하는 것을 특징으로 하는 기록 장치.
  6. 제5항에 있어서, 상기 기록 매체는 광 디스크를 포함하고, 상기 소정 영역은 리드 인 에리어인 것을 특징으로 하는 기록 장치.
  7. 가변 비트 레이트의 데이타를 기록 매체에 기록하는 방법에 있어서 : (a) 기록해야 할 가변 비트 레이트 데이타를 출력하는 단계; (b) 재생 장치에 있어서의 기록 매체로부터 메모리로의 전송 레이트와 가변비트 레이트에 기초하여 필요한 메모리 용량에 상관하는 용량 상관 데이타를 포함하는 인덱스를 출력하는 단계; (c) 인덱스 및 기록해야 할 가변 비트 레이트 데이타를 포함하는 비트 스트림을 생성하는 단계; 및 (d) 비트 스트림을 기록 매체에 기록하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 방법.
  8. 제7항에 있어서, 상기 단계 (b)는 상기 가변 비트 레이트 및 상기 전송 레이트에 기초하여 필요한 메모리 용량을 나타내는 용량 데이타를 출력하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 기록 방법.
  9. 제7항에 있어서, 상기 단계 (b)는 상기 메모리로의 전송 레이트와 상기 메모리로부터의 판독 레이트와의 차이의 시간적 변동인 레이트차 특성을 나타내는 레이트차 특성 데이타를 출력하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 기록 방법.
  10. 제7항 내지 제9항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 상기 단계 (a)는 동화상 데이타를 압축하여 가변 비트 레이트의 압축 동화상 데이타를 출력하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 기록 방법.
  11. 제7항에 있어서, 상기 단계 (d)는 상기 인덱스 데이타를 상기 기록 매체의 소정 영역에 기록하는 것을 특징으로 하는 기록 방법.
  12. 기록 매체로부터 비트 스트림(비트 스트림은 메모리의 용량에 상관하는 상관 데이타 및 가변 비트 레이트 데이타를 포함한다)을 판독하고, 가변 비트 레이트 데이타를 메모리에 저장하고, 그 메모리로부터 가변 비트 레이트 데이타를 판독하여 데이타 처리하는 재상 장치에 있어서; 기록 매체로부터 비트 스트림을 판독하는 판독 수단; 비트 스트림으로부터 인덱스를 추출하는 추출 수단; 및 적어도 인덱스에 기초하여 기록 매체를 재생할 수 있는지의 여부를 판단하는 판단 수단을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 재생 장치.
  13. 제12항에 있어서, 상기 인덱스는 전송 레이트 및 그것에 대응하는 필요 메모리 용량을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 재생 장치.
  14. 제12항에 있어서, 상기 인덱스는 상기 메모리로의 전송 레이트와 상기 메모리로부터의 판독 레이트와의 차이의 시간적인 변동인 레이트차 특성을 포함하고, 상기 판단 수단은 상기 레이트차 특성에 기초하여 전송 레이트 및 필요 메모리 용량을 계산하는 것을 특징으로 하는 재생 장치.
  15. 제13항 또는 제14항에 있어서, 상기 메모리는 제1메모리를 포함하고, 상기 메모리 용량은 상기 제1메모리의 제1용량인 것을 특징으로 하는 재생 장치.
  16. 제13항 또는 제14항에 있어서, 상기 메모리는 제1메모리 및 제2메모리를 포함하고, 상기 메모리 용량은 상기 제1메모리의 제1용량 및 상기 제2메모리의 제2용량의 합계 용량인 것을 특징으로 하는 재생 장치.
  17. 제16항에 있어서, 상기 판단 수단은 필요 메모리 용량이 합계 용량보다 적을 때 상기 기록 매체를 재생가능한 것으로 판단하는 것을 특징으로 하는 재생 장치.
  18. 제17항에 있어서, 상기 필요 메모리 용량이 상기 합계 용량보다 작을 때, 상기 제1메모리 및 상기 제2메모리 중 적어도 한쪽에 비어 있는 에리어가 있는지의 여부를 판단하는 판단 수단, 및 비어 있는 에리어가 없을 때 상기 제1메모리 및 상기 제2메모리 중 적어도 한쪽에 저장되어 있는 정보를 퇴피시킴으로써 비어 있는 에리어를 확보하는 수단을 더 구비하는 것을 특징으로 하는 재생 장치.
  19. 제18항에 있어서, 상기 비어 있는 에리어를 확보하는 수단은 우선도가 낮은 정보를 먼저 퇴피시키는 것을 특징으로 하는 재생 장치.
  20. 제 12항에 있어서, 상기 메모리로부터 판독된 데이타를 처리하는 데이타 처리 수단, 및 상기 데이타 처리 수단으로부터 출력되는 데이타를 저장하는 출력 메모리를 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 재생 장치.
  21. 제20항에 있어서, 상기 메모리의 데이타량이 부족하여 상기 데이타 처리 수단의 데이타 처리가 중단되었을 때 상기 출력 메모리의 데이타를 반복 출력하는 수단을 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 재생 장치.
  22. 기록 매체로부터 비트 스트림(비트 스트림은 메모리의 용량에 상관하는 상관 데이타 및 가변 비트 레이트 데이타를 포함한다)를 판독하고, 가변 비트 레이트 데이타를 메모리에 저장하고, 그 메모리로부터 가변 비트 레이트를 판독하여 데이타 처리 하는 재생 방법에 있어서; (a) 기록 매체로부터 비트 스트림을 판독하는 단계; 비트 스트림으로부터 인덱스를 추출하는 단계; 및 (b) 적어도 인덱스에 기초하여 기록 매체를 재생할 수 있는지의 여부를 판단하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 재생 방법.
  23. 기록 매체로부터 가변 비트 레이트 데이타를 판독하여 버퍼 메모리에 전송하는 수단; 상기 버퍼 메모리의 상기 가변 비트 레이트 데이타의 기입 및 판독을 제어하는 버퍼 컨트롤러; 상기 버퍼 메모리로부터 판독된 상기 가변 비트 레이트 데이타를 디코드하는 디코더; 상기 디코더의 출력 데이트를 저장하는 출력 메모리; 및 상기 버퍼 메모리가 비었을 때 상기 출력 메모리에 저장되어 있는 출력 데이타를 반복 출력하는 수단을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 재생 장치.
  24. 기록 매체로부터 가변 비트 레이트 데이타를 재생하는 재생 방법에 있어서; (a) 상기 기록 매체로부터 가변 비트 레이트 데이타를 판독하여 버퍼 메모리에 전송하는 단계; (b) 상기 버퍼 메모리로부터 판독된 상기 가변 비트 레이트 데이타를 디코드하는 단계; (c) 상기 디코더의 출력 데이타를 출력 메모리에 저장하는 단계; 및 (d) 상기 버퍼 메모리가 비었을 때 상기 출력 메모리에 저장되어 있는 출력 데이타를 반복 출력하는 단계를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 재생 방법.
