Abstract

무비-온-디멘드(movie-on-demand)(MOD) 시스템내에서 사용하기 적합한 디지탈 비디오 저장 시스템은 다수의 디스크 드라이브 저장 장치를 포함하는데;디스크 드라이브는 함께 직렬로 접속되어 루프를 형성하고, 여기서 루프내의 각각의 디스크 드라이브는 저장을 위한 디지탈 비디오 데이터를 수신하기 위한 입력 및 저장된 디지탈 비디오 데이터를 제공하기 위한 출력을 갖고 각각의 디스크 드라이브의 출력은 루프내의 연속적인 디스크 드라이브의 입력에 접속된다. 루프내의 연속적인 디스크 드라이브상에 저장된 비디오 프로그램의 연속적인 세그먼트는 미리 정해진 시간 간격으로 현재 세그먼트가 저장된 디스크 드라이브로부터 루프내의 연속적인 디스크 드라이브로 반복적으로 이동한다. 다수의 탭을 루프에 접속되어 루프로부터 비디오 프로그램을 수신하기 위한 접속 점을 MOD가입자 또는 시청자에게 제공한다. 각각의 탭은 다수의 디스크 드라이브중의 하나의 출력에 대응한다. 작동중에, 비디오 프로그램은 각각의 탭에 제공되어지나, 임의의 순간에는 각 텝은 비디오 프로그램의 다른 세그먼트를 제공한다. 또한 시스템은 시청자로부터 수신한 요청한 반응해서 MOD가입자가 시청자나 접속된 탭을 바꾸기 위한 수단을 포함한다. 상기 특징은 MOD가입자가 임의의 영화 세그먼트에서 시작하여 멈추고, 재생하고 또는 앞뒤로 갈수 있도록 하여, VCR 또는 비디오 디스크 플레이어의 작동을 시뮬레이팅하게 한다.

Claims (14)

  1. 다수의 디스크 드라이브 저장 장치로 구성되는 디지탈 비디오 저장 시스템으로서; 상기 디스크 드라이브는 함께 직렬로 접속되어 루프를 형성하고, 이때 상기 루프내의 각각의 디스크 드라이브는 저장된 디지탈 비디오 데이타를 수신하기 위한 입력 및 저장된 디지탈 비디오 데이터를 제공하기 위한 출력을 갖으며, 각각의 디스크 드라이브의 출력은 상기 루프내에서 연속적인 디스크 드라이브의 입력에 접속되고; 이로써 비디오 프로그램의 연속적인 세그먼트는 상기 루프내의 연속적인 디스크 드라이브상에 저장되고, 및 이로써 상기 비디오 세그먼트는 미리 정해진 시간 간격으로 세그먼트가 현재 저장된 디스크 드라이브에서 상기 루프내의 연속적인 디스크 드라이브로 반복하여 이동하는 디지탈 비디오 저장 시스템.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 비디오 세그먼트의 지속기간이 동일하고 미리 정해진 시간 간격이 상기 비디오 세그먼트의 지속기간과 같은 디지탈 비디오 저장 시스템.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 루프로부터 상기 비디오 프로그램을 수신하기 위한 접속점을 제공하는, 상기 루프에 접속된 다수의 탭을 더 포함하고, 각각의 탭은 상기 다수의 디스크 드라이브 중 하나의 출력에 대응하는 것으로 구성되는 디지탈 비디오 저장 시스템.
  4. 제3항에 있어서, 상기 시청자로부터 수신된 요구에 반응하여 접속된 상기 시청자가 접속된 탭을 바꾸는 수단을 더 포함하는 디지탈 비디오 저장 시스템.
  5. 각각의 디스크 드라이브가 디스크 드라이브상에 저장된 비디오 프로그램의 다른 세그먼트를 갖는 다수의 디스크 드라이브 저장 장치; 및 각각의 스위치가 출력 탭을 갖고 상기 디스크 드라이브로부터 상기 출력 탭으로 비디오 세그먼트 읽기를 경로 선택하게 하기 위한 상기 다수의 디스크 드라이브 중 각각의 하나에 접속되는 다수의 스위치로 구성되는 디지탈 비디오 저장 시스템으로서; 각각의 스위치는 미리 정해진 시간 간격으로 작동하여 상기의 출력 탭에서 상기 비디오 프로그램의 각각의 세그먼트를 연속적으로 제공하며; 및 상기 스위치는 동기 방식으로 작동되어, 각각의 스윗치는 상기의 출력탭에서 상기 비디오 프로그램의 다른 세그먼트를 제공하는 디지탈 비디오 저장 시스템.
  6. 제5항에 있어서, 상기 비디오 세그먼트의 지속기간이 같고, 상기 저장된 시간 간격이 상기 비디오 세그먼트의 지속기간과 같은 디지탈 비디오 저장 시스템.
  7. 제5항에 있어서, 상기 스위치 출력 탭이 상기 루프로부터 상기 비디오 프로그램을 수신하는 시청자를 위한 접속점을 제공하고, 상기 시스템이 상기 시청자로부터 수신된 요구된 반응하여 상기 시청자가 접속된 탭을 바꾸는 수단을 더 포함하는 디지탈 비디오 저장 시스템.
  8. 비디오 서버내에 비디오 데이터를 저장하는 하기의 단계로 구성되는 방법; 다수의 디스크 드라이브 저장 장치를 제공하는 단계로서, 상기 디스크 드라이브가 함께 직렬로 접속되어 루프를 형성하고, 이때 상기 루프내 각각의 디스크 드라이브가 저장용 디지탈 비디오 데이터를 수신하는 입력 및 저장된 디지탈 비디오 데이타를 제공하기 위한 출력을 갖으며, 각각의 디스크 드라이브의 출력은 상기 루프내에서 연속적인 디스크 드라이브의 입력에 접속되는 단계; 비디오 프로그램의 연속적인 세그먼트를 상기 루프내의 연속적인 디스크 드라이브상에저장하는단계; 및 미리 정해진 시간 간격으로 상기 세그먼트를 세그먼트가 현재 저장된 디스크 드라이브에서상기 루프내의 연속적인 디스크 드라이브내로 반복하여 이동시키는 단계
  9. 하기의 단계오 구성되는 비디오 데이타를 저장하고 보이는 방법; 다수의 디스크 드라이브 저장 장치를 제공하는 단계로서, 상기 디스크 드라이브가 함께 직렬로 접속되어 루프를 형성하고, 이때 상기 루프내의 각각의 디스크 드라이브가 저장용 디지탈 비디오 데이타를 수신하는 입력 및 저장된 디지탈 비디오 데이타를 제공하기 위한 출력을 갖으며, 각자의 디스크 드라이브의 출력은 상기 루프내에서 연속적인 디스크 드라이브의 입력에 접속되고, 접속된 다수의 텝을 포함하는 상기 추프는 상기 루프로부터 상기 비디오 프로그램을 수신하는 사용자에게 접속점을 제공하며, 각각의 텝은 상기 다수의 디스크 드라이브중의 하나의 출력에 상응하는 단계; 연속적인 비디오 프로그램의 세그먼트를 상기 루프내의 연속정인 디스크 드라이브상에 저장하는 단계;및 미리 정해진 시간 간격으로 상기 세그먼트를 세그먼트가 현재 저장된 디스크 드라이브에서 상기 루프내의 연속정인 디스크 드라이브오 반복하여 이동시키는 단계.
  10. 제9항에 있어서, 상기 시청자로부터 수신된 요청에 반응하여 상기 시청자가 접속된 텝을 바꾸는 단계를 더 포함하는 방법.
  11. 제9항에 있어서, 상기 비디오 세그먼트의 지속기간이 같고, 및 상기 미리 정해진 시간 간격이 상기 비디오 세그먼트의 지속기간과 같은 방법
  12. 하기의 단계로 구성되는 비디오 데이타를 저장하고 보이는 방법; 다수의 디스크 드라이브 저장 장치를 제공하는 단계; 상기 다수의 디스크 드라이브내의 다른 디스크 드라이브상에 비디오 프로그램의 연속적인 세그먼트를 저장하는 단계; 각각의 스위치가 출력 텝을 갖고 상기 이스크 드라이브로부터 상기 출력 탭으로 비디오 세그먼트 일기를 경로 선택하게 하기 위한 상기 다수의 디스크 드라이브중의 하나에 각각 접속되는 다수의 스윗치를 제공하고, 상기 출력 탭이 상기 비디오 프로그램을 수신하는 시청자를 위한 접속점을 제공하는 단계;미리 정해진 시간 간격으로 각각의 스윗치를 반복하여 작동하여 상기의 출력 탭에서 상기 비디오 프로그램의 각각의 세그먼트를 연속적으로 제공하는 단계; 및 상기 스윗치를 동기 방식적으로 작동하여, 각각의 스윗치가 상기의 출력 탭에서 상기 비디오 프로그램의 다른 세그먼트를 제공하는 단계.
  13. 제12항에 있어서, 상기 시청자가 사기 시청자로부터 수싱된 요청에 반응하여 접속된 텝을 바꾸는 단계를 더 포함하는 방법.
  14. 제12항에 있어서, 상기 비디오 세그먼트의 지속기간이 같고, 및 미리 정해진 시간 간격이 상기 비디오 세그먼트의 지속기간의 같은 방법
