Abstract

본 발명은 필름 보상형 액정표시장치 구조에 관한 것으로, 네마틱 액정의 분자들의 꼬인 각도가 0°~90°사이인 LTN-LCD에 위상차 필름을 편광자와 액정셀 사이에 부착하여 액정셀을 통과한 빛의 편광상태를 각 파장별로 적절하게 변화시킴으로써 광의 파장 분산 특성을 보상하여 콘트라스트비를 증가시키고 밝기를 증가시켰으며 액정셀의 △nd를 조절함으로써 구동전압과 다계조 표시가 가능하도록 할 수 있어 모든 액정표시장치에 적용이 가능하고, 고화질의 총천연색을 나타낼 수 있다.

제3도는 본 발명의 위상차 필름 2장을 사용하여 파장분산특성을 보상하는 FLTN-LCD의 구성도, 제4도는 본 발명의 60°꼬인 FLTN-LCD와 종래의 TN-LCD의 투과 스펙트럼, 제5도(A)는 본 발명의 액정이 60°꼬인 FLTN-LCD와 종래의 TN-LCD의 전압에 대한 임계전압 부근에서의 투과율 곡선, (B)는 본 발명의 액정이 60°꼬인 FLTN-LCD와 종래의 TN-LCD의 전압에 대한 전체 전압영역의 투과율 곡선.

Claims (8)

  1. 광을 편광시키는 상,하 편광자(1)와, 상기 상,하 편광자(1)의 내측에 형성되어 광의 파장 분산 특성을 보상하는 상,하 위상차 필름(2)과, 상기 상하 위상차 필름(2) 사이에 존재하는 액정셀(3)을 포함하여 구성됨을 특징으로 하는 필름 보상형 액정표시장치 구조.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 위상차 필름(2)을 액정셀(3)과 광입사면쪽 편광자(1) 사이에 2장을 구비함을 특징으로 하는 필름 보상형 액정표시장치 구조.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 위상차 필름(2)을 액정셀(3)과 광출사면쪽 편광자(1) 사이에 2장을 구비함을 특징으로 하는 필름 보상형 액정표시장치 구조.
  4. 제2항에 있어서, 위상차 필름(2)을 1장만 구비함을 특징으로 하는 필름 보상형 액정표시장치 구조.
  5. 제3항에 있어서, 위상차 필름(2)을 1장만 구비함을 특징으로 하는 필름 보상형 액정표시장치 구조.
  6. 제1항에 있어서, 액정셀(3)은 네마틱(Nematic)으로 액정분자의 꼬임 각도가 0°~90°사이임을 특징으로 하는 필름 보상형 액정표시장치 구조.
  7. 제1항에 있어서, 액정셀(3)의 굴절율 이방성 △nd과 셀 두께 d의 곱 △nd가 0.2~2.0㎛ 범위임을 특징으로 하는 필름 보상형 액정표시장치 구조.
  8. 제1항에 있어서, 위상차 필름(2)은 폴리카보네이트 또는 폴리비닐알코올임을 특징으로 하는 필름 보상형 액정표시장치 구조.
