제2도는 플레이트내의 연속적 횡단홈의 한가지 구체적인 실시예를 나타내는 분 발명에 따른 유체흐름필드플레이트의 평면도,
제3도는 크게 확대한 홈을 나타내는 제2도의 부분 단면도,
제4도는 본 발명의 또 다른 구체적인 실시예에 따라 공급 개구부와 배기개구부에 그들의 입구단부와 출구 단부를 각각 직접 연결하는 여러개의 흐름통로를 갖는 유체흐름필드플레이트의 평면도.

Claims (39)

  1. 고체의 중합체전해질 연료전지에 사용하기 위한 유체흐름필드 플레이트로서, 상기 플레이트는 적절한 전기 전도성물질로 만들어지고, 그 주외면에 연속적인 개방-면의 유체흐름통로를 형성하며, 상기 통로는 한쪽끝에 유체입구와 다른쪽 끝에 유체출구를 가지며 상기 표면의 주요 중앙면적을 여러가지 경로로 횡단하는 유체흐름필드 플레이트.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 통로는 꾸불꾸불하게 횡단하는 경로를 따르는 유체흐름플레이트.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 통로는 공간적으로 매우 밀접하게 여러개의 긴 경로와 짧은 경로를 번갈아가며 플레이트의 주외면을 횡단하는 유체흐름플레이트.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 상기 주외면과 인접통로경로들은 랜드에 의해 경계지어지는 유체흐름플레이트.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 통로는 플레이트의 양쪽의 주외면에 형성되는 유체흐름플레이트.
  6. 제1항에 있어서, 플레이트는 단단하고 기공이없는 흑연 플레이트인 유체흐름플레이트.
  7. 제1항에 있어서, 통로는 바닥과 상기 바닥에서 개방-면 쪽으로 바깥쪽으로 발산하는 양쪽의 측벽을 포함하는 유체흐름플레이트.
  8. 제7항에 있어서, 통로의 바닥이 편평한 유체흐름플레이트.
  9. 제1항에 있어서, 통로는 통로의 길이 전체에 걸쳐서 일정한 깊이인 유체흐름플레이트.
  10. 제1항에 있어서, 통로는 그 위에 소수성 코팅재료를 포함하는 유체흐름플레이트.
  11. 제10항에 있어서, 소수성코팅재료는 폴리테트라 플루오로에틸렌 및 실리콘으로 구성된 집단에서 선택된 유체흐름플레이트.
  12. 제1항에 있어서, 분리된 다중의 연속 개방-면 유체흐름통로를 갖고, 각각의 통로는 각각 유체입구와 출구를 갖는 유체흐름플레이트.
  13. 제1항에 있어서, 플레이트의 주요 중앙면적은 상기 연료전지의 전극을 수용하기 위하여 움푹패인 유체흐름플레이트.
  14. 제13항에 있어서, 상기 연료전지의 반대쪽 플레이트가 각각 매칭리세스를 갖는 유체흐름플레이트.
  15. 제4항에 있어서, 랜드는 통로의 개방-면 보다 좁은 폭을 갖는 유체흐름플레이트.
  16. 제15항에 있어서, 통로의 개방-면의 폭은 0.030 내지 0.240인치의 범위내에 있는 유체흐름플레이트.
  17. 제16항에 있어서, 랜드폭은 0.010 내지 0.200인치의 범위내에 있는 유체흐름플레이트.
  18. 제17항에 있어서, 통로의 개방-면의 폭은 0.040 내지 0.100인치의 범위내에 있는 유체흐름플레이트.
  19. 제18항에 있어서, 통로의 개방-면의 폭은 0.045 내지 0.055인치의 범위내에 있는 유체흐름플레이트.
  20. 제19항에 있어서, 통로의 개방-면의 폭은 약 0.050인치인 유체흐름플레이트.
  21. 제17항에 있어서, 랜드폭은 0.020 내지 0.100인치의 범위내에 있는 유체흐름플레이트.
  22. 제21항에 있어서, 랜드폭이 0.035 내지 0.055인치의 범위내에 있는 유체흐름플레이트.
  23. 제21항에 있어서, 랜드폭이 약 0.040인치인 유체흐름플레이트.
  24. 적절한 전기전도성인 물질은 흑연, 내부식성물질, 내부식성금속으로 도금된 염기성 금속 및 내부식성 금속분말과 내부식성 금속 또는 화학적으로 비활성인 전기전도성 분발로 도금된 염기성 금속분말이 적절한 결합제로 결합된 조성물로 이루어진 집단중에서 선택된 유체흐름플레이트.
  25. 제24항에 있어서, 적절한 전기전도성 물질이 흑연인 유체흐름플레이트.
  26. 제24항에 있어서, 적절한 전기전도성인 물질이 니오붐인 유체흐름플레이트.
  27. 제24항에 있어서, 적절한 결합제가 폴리비닐리덴 플루오라이드인 유체흐름플레이트.
  28. 제24항에 있어서, 조성물은 10 내지 30무게비의 폴리비닐리덴플루오라이드와 90 내지 70무게비의 흑연 분말을 포함하는 유체흐름플레이트.
  29. 제17항에 있어서, 통로깊이는 0.010 내지 0.0250인치의 범위내에 있는 유체흐름플레이트.
  30. 제29항에 있어서, 통로깊이가 0.030 내지 0.150인치의 범위내에 있는 유체흐름플레이트.
  31. 제30항에 있어서, 통로깊이가 0.040 내지 0.080인치의 범위내에 있는 유체흐름플레이트.
  32. 제31항에 있어서, 통로깊이가 약 0.050인치인 유체흐름플레이트.
  33. 제1항에 있어서, 통로의 개방-면의 폭이 0.030 내지 0.240인치의 범위내에 있는 유체흐름플레이트.
  34. 제12항에 있어서, 상기 표면내에 정의된 더 많은 유체공급개구부와 유체배기개구부를 포함하고, 상기 다중통로의 유체입구와 유체출구가 각각 유체공급개구부와 유체배기개구부에 직법 연결된 유체흐름플레이트.
  35. 음극, 양극, 상기 음극과 양극 사이에 끼어있는 고체의 중합체전해질 및 상기의 음극과 양극과 함께 작동하는 마주보는 한쌍의 유체흐름필드플레이트를 포함하는 고체의 중합체전해질연료전지로서, 상기 필드플레이트의 하나는 음극에 인접하여 음극에 연료를 공급하기 위한 첫번째의 유체흐름필드를 갖고, 상기 필드플레이트의 또다른 하나는 양극에 인접하여, 양극에 산화제를 공급하고 거기에서 생성도는 반응생성물을 배기하는 두번째의 유체흐름필드를 갖고, 상기 유체흐름필드플레이트는 적절한 전기전도성 물질로 만들어지고, 그 주외면에 연속의 개방-면 유체흐름 통로를 포함하고, 상기 통로는 한쪽끝에 유체입구와 다른쪽 끝에 유체출구를 갖는 연료전지.
  36. 제35항에 있어서, 상기 각각의 통로는 꾸불꾸불한 횡단경로를 따라가는 연료전지.
  37. 제35항에 있어서, 상기 각각의 유체흐름플레이트는 단단하고 기공이 없는 흑연플레이트인 연료전지.
  38. 제35항에 있어서, 상기 유체흐름플레이트가 적어도 하나가 상기의 적어도 하나의 음극과 양극을 수용하도록 움푹 패인 주요 중앙면적을 갖는 연료전지.
  39. 제35항에 있어서, 상기 표면에 더 많은 유체배기 개구부를 포함하고, 상기 다중통로의 상기 각각의 입 유체입구 및 유체출구는 각각 상기 유체입구개구부와 유체배기개구부에 직접 연결되는 연료전지.
