Claims (20)

  1. 박리 가능한 내수성 야교 피복물로 피복되고 수율이 약 311m/kg(750yds./lb.) 미만인 인터레이싱된(interlaced) 고강도 알루미 노규산 마그네시아 유리섬유로된 균형잡힌 대칭형 직물을, 포름알데히드 및 페놀을 약1;1 내지 약3;1미만의 몰비로 반응시킴으로써 형성되며 유리페놀 및 유리포름알데히드를 함유하는 추가로 축함 가능한 부분축합된 페놀포름 알데히드레졸반응 생성물용액으로 피복시키고 ; 이 용액으로부터 용매를 증발시키고 ; 레졸피복된 직물을, 페놀포름 알데히드레졸 반응생성물의 대략적인 겔화점(gel point)이하로 가열하여 레졸을 추가로축합시키고 이의 분자량을 증가시키고 ; 이반응 생성물을 냉각시켜 취급가능한 프리프레그(ptepreg)를 제조하고 ; 다수의 프리프레그를 압축성형물 (compression mold)로 적층시키고 ; 성형물내의 프리프레그를 접촉 압력하에, 페놀포름 알데히드의 대략적인 겔화점 이하로 가열하고 ;이 온도에서 유지시켜 휘발성 축합부산물을 방출시키고 ; 이프리프레그를 접촉압력이상에서, 페놀포름 알데히드반응생성물을 실질적으로는 완전히 중축합시키고 경화시켜 면적밀도(areal density)가 약 12.2 kg/㎡(2.5lbs./ft2)이상인 내탄도성 (ballistic resistant)물질을 제조하기에 충분한 시간동안 승온에서 추가 로가열하고, 이프리프레그를 이온도에서 유지시키는 단계를 포함함을 특징으로 하여, 경질이고 자체-지지형(self-supporting)이며 기계가공성(machineable)이고 두꺼우며 내화성이고 ,내연성인내탄도성물질.
  2. 제1항에 있어서, 직물이 평직또는 능직으로 제직된 로우빙(roving)인방법.
  3. 제1항에 있어서, 섬유의 인장강도가 약3.5×106kpa (500,000psi )이상인방법.
  4. 제1항에 있어서, 탄도성 물질이 약78내지 제84중량%의 유리를 함유하는 방법.
  5. 제1항에 있어서, 섬유의 계면전단 강도가 페놀 포름알데히드레졸에 대하여 약41.369kpa (6,000psi)미만인 방법.
  6. 제1항에 있어서, 내탄도성 물질의 면적밀도가 약19.5kg/㎡(4 lbs./ft2)이상인방법.
  7. 제1항에 있어서, 직물의 단위면적당중량이 약427내지 약1,139g/㎡(18내지 48Oz./yd2)이상인방법.
  8. 제1항에 있어서,섬유는 필라멘트직경이 약8내지 약15μ이고 수율은 약104m/kg(250yds.ld)인방법.
  9. 제1항에 있어서, 페놀 포름알데히드 레졸수지를 포름알데히드 및 페놀을 약1.1 ; 1 내지 약1.6 ; 1의 몰비로 반응시킴으로써 제조하는 방법.
  10. 제1항에 있어서, 용액중의 페놀포름알데히드 레졸의 중량 평균분자량의 약200내지 800인방법.
  11. 제10항에 있어서, 피복된 직물을, 페놀 포름알데히드의 분자량을 약1,500이하까지 상승시키기에 충분한 시간동안 그의 겔화점 이하로 가열하는 방법.
  12. 제1항에 있어서, 접촉압력이 약207kPa(30psi)이하인방법.
  13. 제1항에 있어서, 겔화점이 약135 내지 약143℃(275내지 290℉)인방법.

  15. 제14항에 있어서, 접촉압력이 약20.7 내지 약138kPa(3내지 20psi)이고, 적층된 프리프레그를 이접촉압력하약135℃(275℉)에서 약7분이상동안 유지 시키는 방법.
  16. 내좌굴성(resistant to buckling)이고 내변형성이며 내화성이고 내연성이며 기계가공성이고 자체-지지 형이며, 면적밀도가 약12.2 kg/㎡(2.5lbs./ft2)이상이고 경화된 페놀포름알데히드레졸수지 매트릭스로 인터레이싱된 균형잡힌 고강도 알루미노규산 마그네시아 유리섬유직물층을 다수함유하며, 실질적으로 포획된 수증기가 없음을 특징으로 하는 유리섬유 복합체.
  17. 제16항에 있어서, 복합체의 굴곡강도가 약172,369kPa(25,000psi)이상이고 굴곡탄성율은 약27.6×106kPa(4,000,000psi)이상인 복합체.
  18. 제17항에 있어서, 면적밀도가 약22 내지 약25.4kg/㎡(4.5내지 5.2lbs./ft2)인경우 ,약V50값이 약827.5 내지 약873m/초(2,715내지 2.865ft./초)인복합체.
  19. 인터레이싱된 고강도 알루미노규산 마그네시아 섬유로된 균형잡힌 대칭형 직물을, 포름알데히드 및 페놀을 1;1 내지 약2;1이상의 몰비로 반응시킴으로써 형성되는 페놀포름알데히드 레졸 반응 생성물용액으로 피복시키고 피복된 직물을 약135℃(275℉)이하로 가열하고, 이 온도에서 페놀 포름알데히드 반응 생성물이 추가로 중합되도록 유지시키는 단계를 포함하는 방법에 의해 제조된다수의 프리프레그를 압축 성형물로 적층시키고 ; 성형물내에 적층된 프리프레그를 접촉 압력하에서 약135℃(275℉)로 가열하고; 이것을 이 온도에서 약7분이상동안 유지시키고 ;성형압력을 약793kPa(115psi)이상으로 상승시키고 ;이프리프레그를 약171℃(340℉)이상으로 가열하고 ;이프리프레그층을 이온도에서 약793kPa(115psi)이상에서, 페놀포름알데히드반응생성물을 실질적으로는 완전히 중축합시키고 내탄도성 물질을 제조하기에 충분한 시간동안 유지시키는 단계를 포함함을 특징으로 하여, 면적밀도가 약12.2 kg/㎡(2.5lbs./ft2)이상인내화성이고 내연성이며 경질이고 자체-지지형이며 기계가공성인 내탄도성 물질을 제조하는 방법.
  20. 제19항에 있어서, 용액이 카본블랙(carbon black)을 함유하는 방법.
