Nematic liq. crystal compn. are in nematic phase at room temp. and have pos. dielec. anisotropy. Thus, I;(X1 = Cl,X2 = Bu) was added to a 1:1 mixt. of P-methoxybenzylidene-P'-butylaniline and p-ethoxybenzylidene-p'-butylaniline to give nematic liq. crystal compns. having meso range of 3-57≰C.
