Abstract

1410221 Liquid crystal compositions XEROX CORP 12 Sept 1972 [13 Sept 1971] 42319/72 Heading C4X [Also in Division H4] A binary liquid crystal composition with a crystal to nematic transition temperature at less than 0‹ C., and useful in dynamic scattering electro-optic devices, comprises p-methoxybenzylidene-p<SP>1</SP>-n-butylaniline and a further compound of the same general formula In the further compound R 2 may be n-Bu, in which case R 1 is n-butyl, n-pentyl or n-hexyl. Alternatively R 1 = n-Bu and R 2 = Et. Mixtures at or near the eutectic composition are preferred.
