Ⅰ. 일반적 고찰(GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS)
아르기닌(arginine)의 생체내 합성 경로는 오르니틴(ornithine)부터 시작된다. 시트룰린을 생성하기 위해 오르니틴은 카르바밀 포스페이트(carbamyl phosphate)와 결합되고, 시트룰린은 삼인산 아데노신(adenosine triphosphate:ATP)이 있는 곳에서, 아스파르테이트(aspartate)와 결합하여 아르지니노숙시네이트(argininosuccinate)를 생성한다 . 마지막 단계에서, 아르기닌을 생성하기 위해서 푸마레이트(fumarate)는 아르지니노숙시네이트로부터 분리된다. 오르니틴과 요소(urea)를 생성하기 위해서, 아르기닌의 분해 경로(The degradative pathway)는 가수 분해 작용에 의한다.

Ⅲ. 약학적 조성물(PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITIONS)
본원에 기재된 발명의 주제에 따른 조성물의 유효한 복용량이 그것의 필요한 양 만큼 대상에게 투약된다. "유효량(effective amount)"은 측정 가능한 반응(예를 들어, 치료 대상에 치료생물학적 및 임상적으로 적절한 반응)을 일으키기 충분한 조성물의 양이다. 본원에 기재된 발명의 주제에 따른 상기 조성물 내에 활성 성분들의 실제 복용량 레벨은 특정 대상에 대해 원하는 치료 반응을 일으키기에 효과적인 활성 화합물의 양을 투약하도록 변화될 수 있다. 상기 선택된 복용량 수준은 상기 치료 조성물의 활성도, 투약 경로, 다른 약물들 및 치료들과의 결합, 치료되는 질병의 중증도 및 치료되는 대상의 이전 의학적 이력과 상태에 의존할 것이다. 한 예를 들면, 조성물의 복용량은 원하는 치료 효과를 달성하기 위해 요구되는 것보다 더 낮은 수준에서 시작될 수 있고, 상기 원하는 효과를 달성할 때까지 상기 복용량을 점차 증가시키도록 할 수 있으나, 이에 한정되지 않는다. 조성물의 역가는 다양할 수 있고, 따라서, "유효량(effective amount)"도 다양할 수 있다.

대표적인 정맥 시트룰린 용액들은 100mg/ml 용액(10%)을 포함할 수 있다. 대표적인 적맥 시트룰린 복용량은 200mg/kg, 400mg/kg, 600mg/kg 및 800mg/kg일 수 있다. 일 실시 예들에서, 600 mg/kg 또는 800 mg/kg 복용량일 수 있으나, 이에 한정되지 않으며, 상기 복용량은 전신 혈압 상에의 원하지 않은 효과를 완화시키기 위해서 약 50mg/kg에서 100mg/kg 사이의 양만큼 감소될 수 있다. 일 실시 예들에서, 복용량은 일정 시간, 예컨대, 하루에 1회 이상 투약될 수 있다.

본원에 기재된 발명의 주제에 따른 조성물은 바람직하게 표준 비독성의 약제학적 허용 가능한 캐리어, 보강제(adjuvant), 및 매개제(vehicle) 를 포함하는 복용량 단위 제형(dosage unit formulation)로 전형적으로 경구적으로 또는 비경구적으로 투약된다. 본원에서 사용되는 "비경구적(parenteral)"이라는 용어는 정맥, 근육내, 동맥내 주사 또는 주입 기술을 포함한다.

실시 예들의 개요
