Claims (19)
- 제 1 기판;제 2 기판;상기 제 1 기판과 제 2 기판 사이에 주입되는 액정층; 및탄소수 18 이상의 알칸사슬이 상기 기판에 대하여 평행하게 배열되는 액정 배향층을 포함하여 구성됨을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 액정배향층은 상기 제 1 기판 또는 제 2 기판의 광차단 영역 상부에 형성됨을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 액정표시소자는,상기 제 1 기판 상에서 실질적으로 평행하게 교대로 배치되어 전계를 발생시키는 적어도 하나의 공통전극 및 화소전극;서로 교차 배치되어 단위 화소영역을 정의하는 게이트라인과 데이터라인; 및스위칭 소자인 박막트랜지스터를 더 포함하여 구성되는 횡전계방식 액정표시소자임을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제 3 항에 있어서, 상기 게이트라인은 이웃하는 게이트라인과 100 ㎛ 이상의 이격 거리를 두고 형성됨을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제 4 항에 있어서, 상기 공통전극 및 화소전극은 제 1 기판 상에서 상기 게이트라인의 연장 방향에 대하여 0°이상 45°이하의 각도를 갖도록 절곡되어 형성됨을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제 5 항에 있어서, 상기 액정 배향층은 상기 게이트라인 상부에 형성됨을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제 7 항에 있어서, 상기 직쇄형 알칸 사슬은 상기 액정 배향층의 측면에서 상기 액정층을 구성하는 액정 분자를 상기 기판에 대하여 평행하게 배열시킴을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 액정 배향층을 형성하기 위한 격벽을 추가로 포함함을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제 9 항에 있어서, 상기 격벽은 산화 실리콘(SiOx) 또는 질화 실리콘(SiNx) 등의 무기 절연층, 또는 금(Au) 등의 금속물질로 형성됨을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제 10 항에 있어서, 상기 액정 배향층은 상기 격벽의 측면에 화학흡착된 분자군으로서, 탄소수 18 이상의 직쇄형 알칸 사슬을 포함하는 자기 조립 단분자막(Self-Assembled Monolayer)으로 형성됨을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제 11 항에 있어서, 상기 분자군은 클로로실릴기, 알콕시실릴기 및 이소시아네이트 실릴기에서 선택되는 규소함유기를 포함하고 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제 12 항에 있어서, 상기 액정 배향층은 상기 격벽의 표면과 실록산 결합을 통하여 결합되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 제 2 기판은 컬러 필터 기판임을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
- 제 1 기판을 준비하는 단계;상기 제 1 기판 상에 게이트라인을 형성하는 단계;상기 제 1 기판 상에 실질적으로 평행하게 배치되는 공통전극 및 화소전극을 형성하는 단계;제 2 기판을 준비하는 단계;상기 기판에 대해 평행하게 배열되는 탄소수 18 이상의 직쇄형 알칸 사슬을 포함하는 액정 배향층을 준비하는 단계; 및상기 제 1 기판 및 제 2 기판 사이에 액정층을 형성하는 단계를 포함하여 를 포함하여 이루어짐을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자의 제조방법.
- 제 15 항에 있어서, 상기 액정 배향층을 준비하는 단계는,상기 탄소수 18 이상의 직쇄형 알칸 사슬을 포함하는 폴리이미드(Polyimide) 전구체 용액을 준비하는 단계;상기 폴리이미드 전구체 용액을 0℃ ~ 400℃의 온도로 열처리하여 폴리이미드 박막을 마련하는 단계; 및상기 코팅된 폴리이미드 박막을 드라이에칭하여 액정 배향층의 형태로 패터닝하는 단계를 포함하여 이루어짐을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자의 제조방법.
- 제 15 항에 있어서, 상기 액정 배향층은, 상기 직쇄형 알칸 사슬을 포함하는 폴리이미드 박막을 상기 기판상에 잉크젯 인쇄방식으로 형성함을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자의 제조방법.
- 제 15 항에 있어서, 상기 액정 배향층을 형성하는 단계는,무기절연물질 또는 금으로 격벽을 형성하는 단계;탄소수 18 이상의 직쇄형 알킬 그룹을 갖는 계면 활성제 분자군을 비수계의 유기 용매에 더하여 화학 흡착액을 준비하는 단계;상기 격벽의 표면을 상기 화학흡착액에 담가 접촉시키는 단계; 및상기 격벽을 공기 중에 건조시키는 단계를 포함하여 이루어짐을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자의 제조방법.
- 제 1 기판;제 2 기판;상기 제 1 기판 상에서 실질적으로 평행하게 교대로 배치되어 횡전계를 발생시키는 적어도 하나의 공통전극 및 화소전극;상기 제 1 기판과 제 2 기판 사이에 주입되는 액정층; 및상기 제 1 기판과 제 2 기판 사이에 형성되는 복수개의 액정배향층으로 구성되며, 상기 액정배향층의 측면에는 탄소수 18 이상의 알칸사슬이 상기 기판에 대하 여 평행하게 배열되어, 상기 액정층을 구성하는 액정분자의 장축이 상기 제 1 기판 및 제 2 기판에 대하여 평행하게 배열되도록 배향 규제력을 제공함을 특징으로 하는 액정표시소자.
