Claims (18)
- 셀룰라 네트워크 라우팅 영역(routing area)으로서 WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network)을 등록하는 방법으로서,셀룰라 네트워크 내에서 사용자로부터의 서비스 요청의 위치를 결정하는 단계;상기 위치가 WLAN 액세스 포인트(access point) 내에 또는 그 가까이에 있는지를 판정하는 단계; 및WLAN 액세스 포인트에 있거나 또는 그 가까이에 있으면, 상기 WLAN과 상기 셀룰라 네트워크 사이에서 인터워킹(interworking)이 제공되도록 상기 WLAN을 이용하여 상기 요청을 서비스하는 동안 PDP(packet data protocol) 콘텍스트(context)를 유지하는 단계를 포함하는 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 WLAN을 이용하여 상기 요청을 서비스하는 동안 상기 PDP 콘텍스트를 유지하는 상기 단계는 상기 WLAN을 사용하는 동안 사용자와 상기 셀룰라 네트워크 간의 무선 시그널링을 제한하는 단계를 포함하는 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,셀룰라 네트워크 내의 라우팅 영역에 대한 서비스 요청을 수신하는 단계를 더 포함하는 방법.
- 제3항에 있어서,상기 WLAN은 상기 셀룰라 네트워크의 라우팅 영역으로서 인식되는 방법.
- 제3항에 있어서,WLAN 커버리지 영역에 있는 동안 주기적 라우팅 영역 갱신 타이머 값을 설정하여 사용자가 상기 WLAN 영역에 있는 동안 시그널링을 줄이는 단계를 더 포함하는 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 WLAN이 존재할 때 상기 PDP 콘텍스트를 통해 패킷 스위치형 시그널링 접속(packet switched signaling connection)을 확립하는 단계를 더 포함하는 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,사용자 트래픽 서비스를 WLAN으로 시프트함으로써 셀룰라 셀들의 부하(loading)를 제어하는 단계를 더 포함하는 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 셀룰라 네트워크와 상기 WLAN 사이의 상기 인터워킹은,상기 셀룰라 네트워크의 라우팅 영역으로서 상기 WLAN을 고유하게 식별하는 단계; 및일단 식별되면, 상기 셀룰라 네트워크로의 라우팅 영역 갱신 회수를 줄이도록 라우팅 영역 갱신 타이머를 설정하는 단계에 의해 제공되는 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 PDP 콘텍스트를 유지하는 상기 단계는 UMTS 네트워크로 재진입하는 동안 핸드오프 지연을 줄이도록 상기 PDP 콘텍스트를 유지하는 단계를 포함하는 방법.
- 제1항에 있어서,사용자들의 라우팅 영역 식별자들을 WLAN 커버리지 영역의 것으로 변경하여 상기 사용자들을 WLAN으로 시프트함으로써 셀룰라 서비스 제공자들이 셀들의 부하를 제어하게 하는 단계를 더 포함하는 방법.
- 셀룰라 네트워크 라우팅 영역으로서 WLAN(Wireless Local Area Network)을 이용하는 시스템으로서,서비스 요청이 행해지는 위치를 결정할 수 있는 셀룰라 네트워크- 상기 셀룰라 네트워크는 상기 셀룰라 네트워크에서 라우팅 영역으로서 식별되는, 상기 요청이 WLAN을 통해 서비스될 수 있는지를 판정하는, 패킷 기반 지원 노드를 포함함 - 및상기 WLAN을 사용하여 상기 요청을 서비스하는 동안 상기 WLAN과 상기 셀룰라 네트워크 간에 매끄러운 핸드오프를 제공하도록 PDP 콘텍스트를 유지하는 수단을 포함하는 시스템.
- 제11항에 있어서,PDP 콘텍스트를 유지하는 상기 수단은 이동국에 제공된 보전 기능을 포함하는 시스템.
- 제11항에 있어서,상기 셀룰라 네트워크에서 상기 WLAN을 식별하는, 고유한 라우팅 영역 식별자를 더 포함하는 시스템.
- 제11항에 있어서,주기적 라우팅 영역 갱신 타이머를 더 포함하고, WLAN 커버리지 영역에 있는 동안 타이머 값은 사용자가 상기 WLAN 영역에 있는 동안 시그널링을 줄이도록 채용되는 시스템.
- 제11항에 있어서,상기 WLAN과 상기 셀룰라 네트워크 사이에서 사용자 서비스를 확립하고 유지하기 위한 인터워킹 기능을 더 포함하는 시스템.
- 제11항에 있어서,상기 셀룰라 네트워크는 UMTS(Universal Mobile Telecommunications System)를 포함하는 시스템.
- 제11항에 있어서,PDP 콘텍스트를 유지하는 상기 수단은 상기 셀룰라 네트워크와 상기 WLAN 간에 인터워킹을 확립하기 위한 RAB(Radio Access Bearer) 설정 절차를 더 포함하는 시스템.
- 제11항에 있어서,상기 셀룰라 네트워크는 RAI(routing area identifier) 갱신 메세지를 통해 사용자가 WLAN 커버리지 영역에 있는지를 아는 시스템.
