Description
본 발명은 초흡수성 중합체 조성물 및 흡수 제품에서의 이의 용도에 관한 것이다.
초흡수성 중합체는 기저귀와 같은 개인 위생 용품에 있어서 일반적으로 사용되는 익히 공지된 재료이다. 이러한 중합체들은, 예를 들면, 물, 염수, 뇨, 혈액 및 장액 체액(serous bodily fluids)의 수 배 중량을 흡수하는 것으로 공지되어 있다. 흡수 용품에서 초흡수성 중합체 입자들의 고정 또는 함유는 흡수성 개인 위생 용품의 생산자들에게는 중요하다. 이 함유는 개인 위생 용품에서의 입자 이탈(particle shakeout)을 감소시킨다. 입자 이탈은 용품에 있어서 입자의 함유에 손실을 가져올 수 있으며, 이후 입자와 사용자 피부의 접촉을 가져오게 한다. 입자 이탈은 또한 용품에서의 입자의 재분배를 생기게 하고, 잠재적으로는 용품의 성능상 문제를 일으키게 한다.
개인 위생 용품, 전선 피복 성분 및 입자 이탈이 문제시되는 다른 응용에 있어서 입자 이탈의 문제에 대하여 개선된 해결방안을 강구하는 것이 바람직할 것이다.
본 발명은 기재를 초흡수성 중합체 및 결합량의 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르와 접촉시키는 것을 포함하는 제조의 형태로 해결방안을 포함한다. 이 제조방법은 흡수 제품으로부터 초흡수 중합체의 이탈을 줄인다. 다른 면에서는 본 발명은 초흡수성 중합체와 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르를 포함하는 조성물이다. 놀랍게도, 폴리에테르는 매우 낮은 농도에서 기재에 초흡수성 중합체의 우수한 점착성을 부여할 수 있도록 이용될 수 있다. 또 다른 구체적 실시양태에서 폴리에테르는 상용성 점착성 부여제, 상용성 가소제 및 상용성 희석제를 임의로 추가로 포함하는 열용융형 접착제 성분의 일부로서 사용될 수 있다.
본 발명의 조성물은, 예를 들면, 전선 피복 성분과 생리대, 일회용 기저귀, 병원용 가운, 침대 패드 등과 같은 다양한 일회용 흡수 제품의 조합 또는 구성과 같은 당업계에 공지된 다양한 용도로 사용될 수 있다.
본 발명의 제조 공정, 조성물 및 제품은 초흡수성 중합체와 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르(HFPE)를 사용한다.
폴리에테르는 본발명의 초흡수성 중합체를 기재에 결합시키는 데 충분한 양으로 유리하게 사용되어질 수 있다. 바람직하게는, 폴리에테르는 폴리에테르와 초흡수성 중합체의 전체 중량의 0.01 내지 20중량%의 양으로 사용된다. 보다 바람직하게는, 폴리에테르의 양은 0.1 내지 10중량%이고, 보다 더 바람직하게는 폴리에테르의 양은 0.15 내지 4중량%이고, 가장 바람직하게는 폴리에테르의 양은 0.25 내지 2중량%이다. 바람직하게는, 폴리에테르의 양은 폴리에테르와 초흡수성 중합체의 중량을 기준으로 하여, 적어도 0.01중량%, 보다 더 바람직하게는 적어도 0.1중량%, 보다 더 바람직하게는 적어도 약 0.15중량%, 가장 바람직하게는 적어도 0.25중량%이다. 바람직하게는, 폴리에테르의 양은, 폴리에테르와 초흡수성 중합체의 중량을 기준으로 하여, 최대 20중량%, 좀 더 바람직하게는 최대 10중량%, 보다 더 바람직하게는 최대 4중량%, 가장 바람직하게는 최대 2중량%이다. 폴리에테르는 바람직하게는 열가소성이다.
본 발명의 조성물에서 사용하는 폴리에테르는 어떠한 형태로든지, 예를 들면, 그 자체로서 사용될 수 있거나, 열용융형 접착제의 일부로서, 라텍스, 현탁액, 다성분 섬유를 포함한 섬유로서, 입상 형태로 또는 이들 형태의 조합물의 형태로서 사용될 수 있다.
바람직하게는, HFPE는 다음의 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르 중의 하나를 포함한다.

화학식 II의 반복 단위를 가지는 폴리에테르아민은, 아민 잔기들이 에폭시 잔기들과 반응하여 아민 결합, 에테르 결합 및 펜던트 하이드록실 잔기를 가지는 중합체 골격을 형성하기에 충분한 조건하에서 2가 페놀의 하나 이상의 디글리시딜 에테르를 2관능성 아민(두 개의 아민 수소를 가지는 아민)과 접촉시킴으로써 제조될 수 있다. 이들 폴리에테르아민은 미국 특허 제5,275,853에 기재되어 있다. 폴리에테르아민은 디글리시딜 에테르 또는 에피클로로하이드린을 2관능성 아민과 접촉시킴으로써 제조될 수도 있다.
화학식 IIIa의 반복 단위와 화학식 IIIb의 반복 단위를 가지는 하이드록시-관능성 폴리(에테르 설폰아미드)는, 예를 들면, 미국 특허 제5,149,768호에 기재되어 있는 바와 같이, N,N,-디알킬 또는 N,N,-디아릴디설폰아미드를 디글리시딜 에테르와 중합시킴으로써 제조된다.
화학식 IV의 반복 단위를 가지는 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르는, 미국 특허 제4,048,141호와 제4,171,420호에 기재되어 있는 바와 같이, 디글리시딜 에테르와 디티올을 반응시킴으로써 제조된다.
화학식 V의 폴리(하이드록시 아미드 에테르)는, 미국 특허 제5,134,218호에 기재되어 있는 바와 같이, 비스(하이드록시페닐아미도)알칸 또는 아렌, 또는 이들 화합물의 두 가지 이상의 배합물[예: N,N,-비스(3-하이드록시페닐)아디프아미드 또는 N,N,-비스(3-하이드록시페닐)글루타르아미드]을 에피할로하이드린과 접촉시킴으로써 제조된다.
화학식 VI의 폴리(하이드록시 아미드 에테르)는, 바람직하게는 미국 특허 제 5,089,588호와 제5,143,998호에 기재되어 있는 바와 같이, N,N,-비스(하이드록시페닐아미도)알칸 또는 아렌을 디글리시딜 에테르와 접촉시킴으로써 제조된다.
화학식 VII의 폴리(하이드록시 에스테르 에테르)는 디글리시딜 테레프탈레이트와 같은 지방족 또는 방향족 2산의 디글리시딜 에테르 또는 2가 페놀의 디글리시딜 에테르를 아디프산 또는 이소프탈산과 같은 지방족 또는 방향족 2산과 반응시킴으로써 제조된다. 본 반응 생성물은 통상적으로 그리고 바람직하게는 R7이 각각 독립적으로 디글리시딜 에테르 또는 디글리시딜 에스테르의 에폭사이드 그룹의 개환반응으로 생성되어 펜던트 하이드록실 그룹 또는 펜던트 하이드록시메틸 그룹을 제공할 수 있는 하이드록시 함유 그룹인 화학식 VII의 화합물의 이성체성 혼합물이다. 이러한 폴리에스테르는 미국 특허 제5,171,820호와 제5,496,910호에 기재되어 있다. 다른 방법으로는, 폴리(하이드록시에스테르 에테르)는 디글리시딜 에스테르를 비스페놀과 반응시키거나, 디글리시딜 에스테르, 디글리시딜 에테르 또는 에피할로하이드린을 디카복실산과 반응시킴으로써 제조된다.
또한, 페녹시 어소시에이츠, 인코포레이티드(Phenoxy Associates, Inc)가 시판중인 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르가 본 발명을 실시하는 데 있어서 적당하다. 이들 중합체들과 이들의 제조방법은 미국 특허 제3,305,528호와 제5,401,814호에 기재되어 있다.
임의로, 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르는 다정(多頂)의 분자량 분포를 가진다. 본 명세서에서 사용하는 바와 같은 용어 "다정의 분자량 분포"란, 기본 폴리에테르 중합체가 하나 이상의 피크값을 포함하는 크기 배제 크로마토그래피에 의해 결정된 분자량 분포를 가지는 것을 의미한다. 또한, 기본 중합체는 분자량이 상이하되 동일하거나 상이한 1차 구조의 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르의 혼합물일 수있다.
하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르 입자는, 입자의 형태로 사용되는 경우, 당해 입자는 50메쉬[미국 체 일련번호(U.S. Sieve Series), 297㎛]를 통과하기에 충분하도록 작다. 가장 바람직하게는, 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르 입자가 140메쉬 체(105㎛)를 통과할 수 있을 정도로 작다. 중량 평균 입자 직경으로 표현되는 바람직한 크기 범위는, 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르가 입자의 형태인 경우, 10 내지 200㎛, 보다 바람직하게는 50 내지 150㎛이다.
본 발명의 한 가지 실시양태에 있어서, 폴리에테르는 열용융형 접착제 조성물로서 사용된다.
열용융형 접착제 조성물을 제조하는 데 사용할 수 있는 점착성 부여제는 터펜 페놀성 수지와, 예를 들면, 수크로스 벤조에이트 등의 벤조에이트를 포함한다. 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르에 가장 유리하게 혼입되는 점착성 부여제의 양은 열용융형 접착제 조성물을 형성하는 데 이용되는 특별한 성분 뿐만 아니라 요구하고자 하는 성질을 포함하는 다양한 요소에 의존한다. 전형적인 양은, 전체 조성물의 중량을 기준으로 하여, 0 내지 90중량%일 수 있다. 일반적으로, 열용융형 접착제 조성물은, 조성물의 전체 중량을 기준으로 하여, 점착성 부여제를 적어도 0.1중량%, 바람직하게는 1중량%, 보다 바람직하게는 2중량%, 가장 바람직하게는 4중량% 포함하고, 80중량% 미만, 바람직하게는 60중량%, 보다 바람직하게는 50중량% 포함한다.
열용융형 접착제 조성물을 제조하는 데 있어서 사용할 수 있는 가소제는 디옥틸 프탈레이트 등의 프탈레이트 가소제, 다이나콜 720[휠스(Huls) 제품] 등의 액체 폴리에스테르, 디에틸렌 글리콜 디벤조에이트[예를 들면, 벨시콜(Velsicol)이 시판중인 벤조플렉스 50]와 0.5 내지 0.95의 범위로 에스테르화 된 하이드록시 그룹의 몰 분율을 가지는 디에틸렌 글리콜 벤조에이트(예를 들면, 벨시콜의 벤조플렉스 2-45 하이 하이드록시) 등의 벤조에이트 가소제, t-부틸페놀 디페닐 포스페이트 등의 포스페이트 가소제(예를 들면, 몬산토가 상업적으로 시판중인 샌티사이저 154) 등의 포스페이트 가소제, 폴리(에틸렌 글리콜)의 페닐 에테르(예를 들면, ICI가 상업적으로 시판중인 피컬 94) 등의 폴리알킬렌 글리콜 뿐만 아니라 수첨 로진의 메틸 에스테르(예를 들면, 허큘리스의 헤르콜린 D) 등의 링 앤드 볼 융점(Ring and Ball melting point)이 60℃ 이하인 액체 로진 유도체, 뿐만 아니라 지방산의 글리세릴 에스테르 등의 식물성 오일과 동물성 오일 및 이들의 중합 생성물을 포함한다. 만일 가소제가 사용된다면, 가소제는 일반적으로 90중량% 이하의 양으로, 바람직하게는 10 내지 40중량%으로 존재한다.
열용융형 접착제를 편리하게 사용하는 몇개의 적용은 점착성 특성을 상당히 줄이지 않고, 열용융형 접착제 조성물의 용융 점도와 응착특성을 감소시키기 위해서 왁스 희석액의 사용을 필요로 할 수 있다. 이러한 왁스는 압력에 민감한 성질을 나타내지 않는 점착제에 종종 사용된다. 이러한 왁스가 존재한다면, 왁스는 90중량% 이하의 양으로 사용되고, 바람직하게는 5 내지 35중량%로 사용된다. 적절한 왁스는 N-(2-하이드록시에틸)-12-하이드록시스테아르아마나이드 왁스, 수첨 캐스터 오일, 산화된 합성 왁스, 중량 평균 분자량이 1000 이상인 폴리(에틸렌 옥사이드)및 엑손(Exxon)사의 카보닐 함유 에스코머 H101과 같은 관능성 합성 왁스를 포함한다. 이러한 물질들의 하나 이상의 혼합물을 사용할 수 있다.
본 명세서에 기재된 몇몇 점착성 제형은 왁스와 가소제 성분을 둘 다 함유할 수 있으며 하나 또는 다른 것의 존재가 상호적으로 배제하지 않는다는 것을 인식하여야 한다.
이들의 어떤 특성을 개질하기 위하여, 다른 임의의 첨가제를 열용융형 접착제 조성물에 혼입할 수 있다. 이들 첨가제들 중에는 산화방지제, 안정제, 착색제(예: 이산화티탄) 및 충전제(예: 활석 및 점토)가 있다. 또한, 유연성, 강성, 강도 및/또는 수민감성을 부여하기 위하여 이러한 유형의 점착제에 용이하게 사용되는 특정 중합체 및/또는 친수성 중합체가 점착성 조성물에 존재할 수 있다. 적합한 중합체들은 에틸렌 비닐 아세테이트, 에틸렌 아크릴산, 에틸렌 메틸 아크릴레이트, 12 내지 50%의 비닐 또는 아크릴레이트 단량체를 포함하는 에틸렌 n-부틸 아크릴레이트 공중합체를 포함한다. 적합한 친수성 중합체들은 폴리비닐 알콜, 하이드록시에틸 셀룰로스, 하이드록시프로필 셀룰로스, 폴리비닐 메틸 에테르, 폴리(에틸렌 옥사이드), 폴리비닐 피롤리돈 등을 포함한다.
여기에 포함될 수 있는 적용 가능한 안정제와 산화방지제는 황 또는 인 함유 페놀 등의 고분자량 장애 페놀류이다.
일반적으로, 열용융형 접착제 조성물은 당업계에 공지된 기술을 사용하여 제조할 수 있다. 예시적인 공정은, 대략 40%의 전체 점착성 수지 농축물을 폴리에테르 중합체, 왁스, 가소제 및 안정제와 함께 재킷된 혼합솥, 바람직하게는 로터가구비되어 있는 재킷된 중형 혼합솥 안에 넣고, 190℃ 이하의 온도 범위로 상승시킴을 포함한다. 수지가 용융된 후, 온도를 150℃ 내지 165℃로 낮춘다. 점착성 수지 잔여물이 완전하고 균일하게 혼합된 후에 부드럽고 균질한 덩어리가 수득될 때까지 계속 혼합하고, 가열한다.
중합체와 모든 유형의 첨가제를 용융 블렌딩하는 기술은 당업계에 공지되어 있다. 전형적으로, 용융 블렌딩 작업에서 중합체 용융물을 형성하기에 충분한 온도로 하이드록시-관능화 폴리에테르를 가열하고, 압출기, 밴버리 혼합기, 브라벤더 혼합기 또는 연속 혼합기와 같은 적당한 혼합기 속에서 기타의 열용융형 접착제 성분 적당량과 혼합한다. 또한, 상이한 성분들의 물리적 혼합물은 동시에 가열되고 위에서 언급한 혼합기들 중의 하나를 사용하여 혼합될 수 있다.
용융 블렌딩은 바람직하게는 공기의 부재하에 수행한다. 예를 들면, 아르곤, 네온 또는 질소와 같은 불활성 가스의 존재하에 수행할 수 있다. 그러나 용융 블렌딩은 공기의 존재하에 수행할 수 있다. 용융 블렌딩 조작은 각각 배치식으로 또는 불연속적 방식으로 수행할 수 있지만, 공기가 대부분 또는 완전히 배제된 상태의 압출기에서와 같이 하나 이상의 가공구역에서 연속적인 방식으로 수행하는 것이 보다 바람직하다. 압출은 하나의 구역 또는 단계에서, 또는 직렬 또는 병렬의 복수의 반응구역에서 수행할 수 있다.
또한, 기타의 열용융형 접착제 성분을 함유하는 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르는 열용융형 접착제 조성물을 형성하거나 형성하는 데 사용되는 액체 또는 고체 단량체 또는 가교결합제에 기타의 성분이 긴밀하게 분산되어 있는 반응성 용융 공정에 의하여 형성될 수 있다. 이러한 분산액은 압출기 또는 다른 혼합장치 속에 하나 이상의 중합체를 함유하는 중합체 용융물 속으로 주입될 수 있다. 주입된 액체는 새로운 중합체가 될 수 있고 사슬의 신장, 그래프트 또는 용융상태에서 최초로 가교 중합체가 될 수 있다.
또한, 열용융형 접착제 조성물은 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르를 형성하는 데 사용된 단량체를 용매의 존재 또는 부재하에 다른 성분과 함께 혼합하고, 이어서 단량체를 중합시켜 조성물의 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르 성분의 조성물을 형성함으로써 형성될 수 있다. 중합후에는 사용된 용매를 통상의 수단으로 제거한다.
또한, 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르 중합체를 과립화하고 용융 접착 조성물의 다른 성분과 건식 혼합한 다음, 조성물은 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르가 용융되어 유동성 혼합물을 형성할 때까지 혼합기 속에서 가열한다. 이어서, 이러한 유동성 혼합물을 목적하는 조성물을 형성하기에 충분한 혼합기 속에서 전단처리한다. 또한, 열용융형 접착제 조성물의 기타 성분을 첨가하기 전에, 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르를 혼합기 속에서 가열하여 유동성 혼합물을 형성시킨다. 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르와 기타 성분들을 충분하게 전단처리하여 목적하는 열용융형 접착제 조성물을 형성한다.
본 발명에서 적절하게 사용 가능한 수팽윤성 초흡수제 또는 약하게 가교결합된 친수성 중합체는 다량의 유체를 흡수할 수 있는 공지된 친수성 중합체들 중의 하나일 수 있다. 이들 중합체는 당업계에서 잘 공지되어 있고, 상업적으로 널리시판되고 있다.

초흡수성 중합체를 사용하는 전선 피복은 또한 전선 피복의 제조방법으로서 당해 기술분야의 숙련가에게 잘 공지되어 있다. 또한, 본 발명의 조성물은 전기 케이블 또는 통신 케이블에서 방수 성분의 제조에 유용하다. 이들 방수 성분용 기재 물질은 필름, 테잎, 또는 천연 또는 합성 물질의 스트랜드일 수 있다. 초흡수성 중합체 조성물은 당업계에 공지된 여러 가지 방법을 사용하여 이들 기재의 안밖으로 혼입될 수 있다. 또한, 초흡수성 중합체 함유 기재는 개개의 와이어 또는 섬유의 다발 주위를 감싼다. 초흡수제는 당업계에 공지된 여러 가지 방법을 사용하여 전기 케이블 또는 통신 케이블에서 개개의 와이어 또는 섬유에 직접 점착될 수 있다.
본 발명의 흡수 제품은, 제품의 중량을 기준으로 하여, 본 발명의 초흡수제/하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르 조성물을 5 내지 95중량% 포함할 수 있다. 전형적인 흡수 제품에 있어서, 본 발명의 초흡수제/하이드록시 관능성 폴리에테르 조성물은, 초흡수제/하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르 조성물이 30 내지 70중량%의 양으로 존재하고 섬유 매트릭스가 제품의 70 내지 30중량%를 구성하는 섬유 매트릭스에 분산될 수 있다. 바람직하게는, 본 발명의 초흡수제/하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르 조성물은, 초흡수제/하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르 조성물이 15 내지 85중량%으로 존재하고 섬유 매트릭스가 제품의 85 내지 15중량%를 구성하는 섬유 매트릭스에 분산될 수 있다. 또 다른 형태의 흡수 제품에 있어서, 초흡수제는, 본 발명의 초흡수제/하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르 조성물이 30 내지 95중량%의 양으로 존재하는 봉쇄 구조물 속에 존재할 수 있다. 흡수 제품의 제조에 있어서, 본 발명의 초흡수제/하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르 조성물을 섬유 매트릭스에 균일하게 분포된 물질로서, 섬유 매트릭스 속의 층 또는 포킷에 함유된 재료로서 또는 이들 둘 다로서 사용하는 것이 가능하다.

제조방법 1, 제조방법 2 및 제조방법 3은 흡수 제품 또는 흡수 제품의 일부를 생산하기 위하여 사용할 수 있는 방법의 실시예들이다. 모든 실시예와 비교 실험들에서 사용한 SAP는 더 다우 케미칼 캄파니(The Dow Chemical Company)가 시판 중인 상품명 "드라이텍(Drytech) 2015M"의 초흡수제 중합체이다.
제조방법 1 - 적층 설계
당해 패드 제조방법으로 기존 설계의 기저귀 패드에 적층 설계를 가지는 패드를 제조하여 대단위 기저귀 생산을 모의 실험한다. 플러프 펄프(11.6g)를 공기 스트림 속에 분산시킨다. 고체/공기 혼합물들을 천공된 표면에 의해 지지된 티슈층을 통하여 통과시켜 고체를 공기로부터 분리하여 두께에 있어서 실질적으로 균일한 플러프 층을 제조한다. 이어서, 플러프 펄프층을 두께방향으로 분할시킨다. SAP 8.5g과 다양한 양의 PHEE와의 혼합물을 플러프 층들 중의 하나의 표면에 균일하게 부가한다. 이어서, 다른 플러프 층을 플러프/SAP/PHEE 층의 맨 위에 얹는다. 이어서, 이러한 적층 복합체를 티슈 속에 감싸고, 적정 온도로 가열된 판 사이에서 60 내지 180초 동안 1.59mm의 두께로 가압한다.
제조방법 2 - 균일한 설계
당해 패드 제조방법으로 기존 설계의 기저귀 패드에 균일 설계를 한 패드를 제조하여 대단위 기저귀 생산을 모의 실험한다. 플러프 펄프(11.6g)와 SAP/HFPE 혼합물을 공기 스트림 속에 분산시킨다. 고체/공기 혼합물을 천공된 표면에 의해 지지된 티슈층을 통하여 통과시켜 고체를 공기로부터 분리하여 두께에 있어서 실질적으로 균일하며 고체 성분들의 실질적으로 균일한 혼합물인 플러프, SAP 및 HFPE의 층을 제조한다. SAP/HFPE 혼합물은 SAP 8.5g과 다양한 양의 HFPE를 사용하여 제조한다. 이어서, 균일한 복합체를 티슈 속에 감싸고, 적정 온도로 가열된 판 사이에서 2 내지 10초 동안 1.59 내지 3.18mm의 두께로 가압한다.
분해방법 1
복합체 패드를 패드를 손수 찢어서 대략 직경이 1/8"인 조각으로 분해시킨다. 일부 SAP 입자는 분쇄공정 동안에 패드 조각으로부터 자유로이 떨어진다. 일부 다른 SAP 입자는 접촉에 의해서 위치하게 되고, 자유로이 움직인다면, 패드 조각의 플러프로부터 걸러진다. 양 범주의 떨어진 입자를 모으고, 무게를 측정한다. "이탈(shakeout) %"는 모아진 SAP 입자의 질량을 복합체 패드를 생산하는 데 사용한 SAP의 질량으로 나누고, 100으로 곱한 값이다.
분해방법 2
복합체 패드를 대략 직경이 1"인 조각으로 손수 찢고 분해시키고 패드를 워링 블렌더(waring blender)에 배치시켜 복합체 패드를 분해시킨다. 조각들을 3초 동안 고율의 설정에서 배합한다. 배합된 복합체를 점차적으로 가늘어지는 미국 체 시리즈 스크린의 스크린 적층물 맨 위에 얹는다. 맨 위의 스크린은 14메쉬(1410㎛)이고, 중간 스크린은 50메쉬(297㎛)이며, 가장 아래의 스크린은 170메쉬(88㎛)이다. 이어서, 스크린 적층물을 10분 동안 교반하여 입자를 플러프로부터 분리시킨다. 스크린 적층물의 교반은 Ro-Tap 시험 체 교반기[더블류. 에스. 테일러, 인코포레이티드(W. S Tyler, Inc.) 제품]로 수행한다. 이어서, 걸러진 플러프를 분리시키고, 떨어진 입자를 수거한 다음, 스크린으로부터 제거하고, 플러프를 다시 스크리닝한다. 이어서, 이 과정을 한 번 더 반복한다. 스크리닝 단계를 3회 거친 후, 수거된 SAP 입자를 합하고, 마지막으로 스크리닝한 다음, 수거한다. "이탈 %"는 수거된 SAP 입자들의 질량을 복합체를 제조하는 데 사용한 SAP 질량으로 나누고, 100으로 곱하여 얻어진다.
비교실시예 A 및 실시예 1 내지 3
PHEE 폴리에테르를 HFPE로서 사용한다. 보다 상세하게는, 화학식 VII을 근거로 하고 중량 평균 분자량이 20,000g/mol이며 비스페놀 A의 디글리시딜 에테르와 아디프산과의 반응 생성물인 폴리(하이드록시에스테르에테르)를 사용한다. PHEE 폴리에테르를 분쇄하고, 140메쉬(105㎛) 스크린을 사용하여 스크리닝한 다음, 스크린을 통하여 통과한 입자들을 100℃의 가압 온도를 사용하는 제조방법 1에 따라 복합체 패드의 제조에 사용한다. 이어서, 분해방법 1을 사용하여 복합체 패드를 찢어서 분리(손으로 분해)시킨다. 플러프로부터 떨어져 있고 따라서 플러프로부터 손으로 분리 가능한 입자를 "회수된(recovered)"이라고 명명한다. 복합체를 제조하는 데 사용되는 양을 기준으로 한 회수된 SAP의 %는 부가된 다양한 양의 PHEE에 대하여 아래 표 1에 기재되어 있다. 수치가 큰 SAP 보유와 수치가 작은 회수 SAP가 바람직하다.

표 1과 표 2의 결과는, SAP을 기준으로 하여, 0.1 내지 1.0%의 PHEE를 포함함으로써 적층 패드와 균일상 패드에서 모두 SAP 보유(이탈을 줄이는 것)가 향상된다는 것을 나타낸다.
비교실시예 C와 실시예 6 및 7
제조방법 2를 이용하여 복합체 패드의 그룹을 제조한다. HFPE 중합체는 비스페놀 A의 디글리시딜 에테르와 모노에탄올아민과의 반응 생성물인 PHAE, 즉 화학식 II을 근거로 한 폴리하이드록시아미노에테르이다. PHAE는 2.16Kg의 중량을 사용하여 190℃에서 측정한 용융 흐름 지수가 3이다. PHAE를 분쇄하고, 140메쉬(105㎛) 스크린을 사용하여 스크리닝한 다음, 스크린을 통과한 입자를 사용한다. 분해방법 2를 이용하여 복합체 패드를 분해시킨다. 복합체를 제조하는 데 사용된 양을 기준으로 하여 회수된 SAP의 %는 상이한 가압 시간과 가압 온도에 대하여 표 4에 기재되어 있다.

비교실시예 C에 비하여 비교실시예 6은 이탈(%)이 향상되지 못하였지만, 실시예 7은 가압 시간과 가압 온도가 증가함에 따라 이탈이 현저하게 줄어들고, SAP 보유가 향상되었음을 보여준다.
실시예 8
30% PHAE와 70% 폴리프로필렌으로 구성된 이성분 섬유를 길이가 1mm인 조각으로 절단한다. 당해 섬유는 288 필라멘트사이며, 코어/쉬드 구조를 취하고 있다.PHAE의 용융 흐름 지수는 20이고, 폴리프로필렌의 용융 흐름 지수는 35이다. 섬유의 섬도는 6.7dpf이고, 강력이 0.74이다. 제조방법 2에서 HFPE의 공급원으로서 당해 섬유를 0.2805g 사용하여 복합체를 제조한다. 복합체를 분해방법 2에 따라 처리한다. 가압 시간과 가열 온도는 실시예 7의 가압 시간과 가열 온도이다. 이탈%는 실시예 7의 42%에 비하여 60%이였다. 이러한 결과는 HFPE를 과립형이나 절단 섬유로서 사용할 수 있다는 것을 나타낸다.
실시예 9
용융 흐름 지수(MFI)가 큰 PHAE(3 대신 8)를 사용하는 것을 제외하고는 실시예 7의 방법을 반복한다. PHAE는 화학식 II를 기준으로 하고 비스페놀 A의 디글리시딜 에테르와 모노에탄올아민과의 반응 생성물이다. 2.16Kg의 중량을 사용하여 190℃에서 측정한 PHAE의 용융 흐름 지수는 8이다. 복합체를 제조하는 데 사용한 양을 기준으로 하여 회수된 SAP의 %는 표 6에 기재되어 있다.

이들의 결과로부터, HFPE 결합제의 특성(용융 흐름 지수 또는 분자 구조)을 고려함으로써 이탈값을 최적화할 수 있다는 사실을 알 수 있다.
실시예 10 및 11
제조방법 2를 사용하고 실시예 6의 PHAE를 사용하여 복합체 패드의 그룹을 제조한다. 각각의 패드를 직경 2cm 막대 위에 감싸서 강성을 평가한다. 패드의 중첩부 5cm 아래의 각각의 패드의 내부 표면 사이의 거리를 수평 측정한다. 다음과 같은 등급을 사용하여 복합체의 등급을 정하는데, 등급은 표 7에 기재되어 있다.

PKHH를 HFPE로서 사용하는 것을 제외하고는 실시예 7의 방법을 반복한다. PKHH는 화학식 I에 근거한 폴리(하이드록시에테르)이고, 비스페놀 A와 비스페놀 A의 디글리시딜 에테르와의 반응 생성물이다. 2.16Kg의 중량을 사용하여 190℃에서 측정한 PKHH의 용융 흐름 지수는 8이다. 복합체의 제조에 사용된 SAP의 양을 기준으로 하여 회수된 SAP의 퍼센트(%)는 표 8에 기재되어 있다.

제조방법 3 - PHEE 라텍스 사용
당해 패드 제조방법으로 기존 설계의 기저귀 패드에 설계를 한 균일 패드를 제조하여 대단위 기저귀 생산을 모의실험 한다. 플러프 펄프(11.6g)와 SAP(8.5g)를 공기 스트림 속에 분산시킨다. 고체/공기 혼합물을 천공된 표면에 의해 지지된 티슈층을 통하여 통과시켜 고체를 공기로부터 분리하여 두께에 있어서 실질적으로 균일한 플러프와 SAP와의 층을 제조하는데, 이는 실질적으로는 균일한 고체 성분의 혼합물이다. 균일한 복합체 위에 티슈와 함께 접혀지지 않은 채, PHEE 라텍스 9g을 패드의 상부에 균일하게 분무한다. 패드를 40℃에서 6시간 동안 건조시킨다. 커버 시트를 복합체 둘레에 접은 다음, 패드를 100℃에서 20초 동안 가압한다.
실시예 13 과 비교실시예 E
중량 평균 분자량이 55,000g/mol이고, 아디프산과 에폭시 수지[상품명: D.E.R. 331{더 다우 케미칼 캄파니가 시판중임}]과의 반응 생성물인 PHEE, 보다 상세하게는 화학식 VII에 근거하는 폴리(하이드록시에스테르에테르)를, WO 제99/12995호(공개일: 1999. 3. 18.)의 실시예 1서 사용한 계면활성제를 사용하고당해 공보의 방법으로 PHEE-라텍스로 제조한다. PHEE-라텍스는 고형물이 50.7%이고, 입자 크기가 1.03㎛이며, 계면활성제 농도가 3.7%이다.제조방법 3에서사용하기에 앞서, 라텍스를 47% PHEE-라텍스 1부당 2.5부의 물로 희석시킨다.
(분무 중량)(희석)(%)=(9g PHEE) × (1/2.5)×(0.47) = 1.69gPHEE
이는 1.69g PHEE/초흡수제 8.5g = 19.91% 활성 PHEE이다.
PHEE 라텍스를 사용하지 않은 것을 제외하고는 동일한 과정을 이용하여 비교실시예 E의 비교 패드를 제조한다.

Claims (39)
- 초흡수제 중합체(a)와 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르(b)를 포함하는 조성물.
- 제1항에 있어서, 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르가 다정한 분자량 분포를 가지거나, 분자량이 상이한 두 가지 이상의 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르의 혼합물인 조성물.
- 제1항에 있어서, 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르가 화학식 I의 반복 단위를 가지는 폴리(하이드록시 에테르)인 조성물.화학식 I위의 화학식 I에서,B는 주로 하이드로카빌렌인 2가 유기 잔기이고,R은 각각 독립적으로 알킬 또는 수소이고,n은 5 내지 1000의 정수이다.
- 제3항에 있어서, 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르가 디글리시딜 에테르 또는에피클로로하이드린과 비스페놀과의 반응에 의해 제조되는 조성물.
- 제1항에 있어서, 하이드록시-관능성 폴리에테르가 화학식 II의 반복 단위를 가지는 폴리(하이드록시 아미노 에테르)인 조성물.화학식 II위의 화학식 II에서,A는 디아미노 잔기 또는 상이한 아민 잔기들의 조합이고,B는 주로 하이드로카빌렌인 2가 유기 잔기이며,R은 각각 독립적으로 알킬 또는 수소이고,n은 5 내지 1000의 정수이다.
