- (a) (1) 산화제 기체를 위한 입구 수단, 1차 연료를 위한 입구 수단, 산화제 기체와 1차 연료를 연소시키기 위한 연소 영역, 및 화염 홀더로부터 1차 배출물을 배출시키기 위한 출구를 가지는 중심 화염 홀더; 및(2) 중심 화염 홀더의 출구를 둘러싸는 복수의 2차 연료 주입기 노즐로서, 각 2차 연료 주입기 노즐은 (2a) 입구 페이스(303), 출구 페이스(217), 및 입구와 출구 페이스를 통해 통과하는 입구 유동 축(301); 및 (2b) 노즐 바디를 통해 입구 페이스(303)로부터 출구 페이스(217)까지 연장되며, 각각의 슬롯은 슬롯 축과 슬롯 중심 평면을 가지는 1 또는 그 이상의 슬롯을 포함하는 것인 2차 연료 주입기 노즐;(3) 복수의 2차 연료 주입기 노즐과 연결된 1 또는 그 이상의 점화기를 포함하는 버너 어셈블리를 제공하는 단계;(b) 중심 화염 홀더 내로 1차 연료 및 산화제 기체를 도입시키고, 화염 홀더의 연소 영역에서 산화제 기체의 일부에 의해 1차 연료를 연소시키고, 그리고 화염 홀더의 출구로부터 연소 생성물 및 과량의 산화제 기체를 포함하는 1차 배출물을 배출시키는 단계;(c) 2차 연료 주입기 노즐을 통해 화염 홀더의 출구로부터 1차 배출물 내로 2차 연료를 주입하는 단계; 및(d) 1 또는 그 이상의 점화기를 작동시키고 2차 연료 주입기 노즐로부터 연료를 점화시켜, 연소 생성물에서 과량의 산화제에 의해 연료를 연소시키는 단계를 포함하는 연소 방법.

- 제6항에 있어서, 1차 연료가 천연 가스 또는 정유 오프가스이며, 2차 연료가 압력 스윙 흡착 시스템으로부터 얻어진, 수소, 메탄, 일산화탄소, 및 이산화탄소를 포함하는 것인 연소 방법.
- 제8항에 있어서, 1차 연료 및 2차 연료가 동일한 조성을 가지는 기체인 연소 방법.
