Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled high-purity metallic carbonate inexpensively and readily, by adding a specific precipitating agent to an aqueous solution of a metallic sulfate to give sediment, filtering the sediment and washing the prepared cake with a diluted aqueous solution of an alkali. CONSTITUTION:(A) An aqueous solution of a metallic sulfate such as copper sulfate, zinc sulfate or nickel sulfate is blended with (B) one-twice the theoretical amount based on the component A (solid content) of an alkali carbonate or alkali hydrogencarbonate as a precipitating agent to give a metallic carbonate. The prepared sediment is filtered and separated to give cake having 50-80wt.% water content. Then the cake is washed with (C) 1-20l (based on 1mol. metallic carbonate of cake) of 0.005-1.0wt.% diluted aqueous solution of an alkali such as Na2CO3, NaOH or NH3 to give the titled metallic carbonate having <=50ppm sulfur content and <=200ppm alkali metal content.
