Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance mobility of carriers and sensitivity of a photosensitive body and to lower residual potential by forming an electric charge transfer layer made of a specified polymer compound. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive body is formed by successively laminating the charge transfer layer 2 and a photoconductive layer 3 on a supporting body 1. The layer 2 is made of a straight-chain polymer compound having p-phenylene units combining with at least one of S, Se, and Te atoms of IVb elements at the para position, and in addition, 0, such as poly-p-phenylenesulfide (PPS), and for example, it is formed by applying the PPS film to the substrate 1, and heat treating it, preferably, in an atmosphere containing O2 at a temperature of 250-350 deg.C. It is preferred to form an amorphous layer made of Si containing H and/or halogen (X), such as Si(:H:X), as the layer 3.
