Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve a sealing state by forming the pattern of a sealing material on one of two substrates on which electrodes are formed, arranging auxiliary sealing materials on positions other than the area of the liquid crystal cell in the vicinity of the peripheral edge of the pattern of the sealing material, superposing the other substrate on the patterned substrate, sticking both the substrate to each other, cutting off the substrates, and then removing the auxiliary sealing materials. CONSTITUTION:A thermocuring adhesive as a sealing material 2 is printed out on the glass substrate 1a forming a transparent electrode and having prescribed thickness, and two patterns with the prescribed width and the auxiliary sealing materials 3 separated from the liquid crystal cell 4 by a prescribed distance are arranged. Then, the other similar glass substrate 1b is superposed to the sealing materials 2 and prescribed load is applied to the superposed substrates to press them against each other. The pressed substrates are heated and cured at a prescribed temperature and then cut out and the parts arraying the auxiliary sealing materials 3 are removed to separate the liquid crystal cell 4. Consequently, the sealing shape can be improved especially in a large liquid crystal display device, a gap material can be prevented from being deformed, the yield of products can be improved, the cost of the product can be reduced.
