Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate storage, transportation, etc., to eliminate position deviation in screen printing of sealing materials, and further to facilitate position allignment in affixing of substrates by providing notches to the end faces of the substrates. CONSTITUTION:By noticing that a figured glass substrate used as a substrate for electrochromic display devices, etc., is manufactured by hot press molding of glass, the mold during hot press molding is changed and such a mold by which notches are formed in part of the end face thereof is used. Since four notches 11 are provided at the end face of a figured glass substrate 10, position deviations can be eliminated nearly completely by providing positioning pins to be fitted into the notches in the stage of screen printing. In the stage of manufacturing display devices, a sealing material is formed to th shape having recesses corresponding to the notches and position alignment is accomplished at the time of affixing two sheets of flat glass and figured glass.
