Abstract

PURPOSE: To automatize vectorizing processing by erasing an outline at the end of tracing of this outline. CONSTITUTION: An outline m3 whose vectorizing is terminated is erased from a pattern memory to keep only outlines m1 , m2 , and m4 left on this pattern memory. When raster scan is performed, a dot d2 in the upper left of the outline m2 is encountered, and therefore, the outline m2 is vectorized, and the outline m2 is erased after the end of this vectorizing, and only outlines m1 and m4 are kept left on the pattern memory. After outlines m1 and m4 are vectorized in the same manner, all outlines are erased on the pattern memory; and therefore, any dot indicating black is not encountered by raster scan after the end of vectorizing of the outline m4 . Thus, dot patterns are automatically vectorized.
