Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the degradation in quality of a dot character pattern due to expansion/reduction by vectorizing the outline of the dot character pattern after expanding it twice or more integer times. CONSTITUTION: The dot pattern of a character is first expanded by magnifications corresponding to integer times, for example, twice in vertical and horizontal directions, and consequently, values on the X axis and the Y axis of coordinates of start points of areas to be painted out are even (including '0') That is, coordinates of start points of outer outlines of areas to be painted out are (0, 0) and (6, 6) respectively. Meanwhile, coordinates of the start point of an inner outline of the area to be painted out are (3, 3), and values on the X axis and the Y axis are odd. Thus, the dot pattern is easily automatically vectorized, and a character vector is obtained where the degradation in quality of the character is small even in the case of expansion/reduction by high magnifications.
