PURPOSE:To shorten a linkage processing time, by setting the coordinates of the upper and lower ends of an extracting mask on a prescribed line of the mask, to a mask pattern of linkage, and comparing it with coordinates of its adjacent mask. CONSTITUTION:Each register 41, 42, 43 and 44 stores each coordinate of the lower end of a mask pattern of linkage, the upper end of the mask pattern of linkage, the lower end of the mask to be compared, and the upper end of the mask to be compared, respectiely. A comparator 45 outputs a logical ''1'' signal when the upper end coordinates of the mask from the register 44 are larger than the lower end coordinates of the mask pattern of linkage supplied from the register 41. A comparator 46 outputs a logical ''1'' signal when the lower end coordinates of the mask to be compared, from the register 43 are smaller than the upper end coordinates of the mask pattern of linkage supplied from the register 42. Outputs of the comparators 45, 46 are supplied to an AND circuit 47.
