Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform high-efficient grinding without preparing a complicated machining program, by a method wherein, based on a parameter provided accompanied with a specified command, by selection of a given command of commands, the command is activated, and a desired grinding work is performed. CONSTITUTION:A first drive motor 20 for axially driving a rotary grinding stone, a second drive motor 22 for radially driving the rotary grinding stone, and a rotary grinding stone motor 24 are provided. A predetermined motion is commanded to each motor, and a specified command for activating at least one command of a plurality of commands by means of which different machining function is performed is determined. A given command of a plurality of commands is selected based on parameter, for example, a cut target current value of a grinding stone rotating motor 24, a completion point of grinding, traverse rotation, a rest time at the end part of a rolling roll 2, and the feed speed of a rotary grinding stone 12 in traverse grinding employing adaptive control, provided contingently to a specified command. Through activation of the command, movement of the rotary grinding stone 12 is controlled to grind the rolling roll 2 in a desired shape.
