Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently recover the lightweight slag in circulating water and to effectively utilize the slag as a heat insulating material, etc., by providing a remover in the circulating water line of the device for producing water- granulated blast-furnace slag to recover the lightweight slag in the circulating water, and dehydrating the slag by a dehydrator. CONSTITUTION:High-pressure water is sprayed on the blast-furnace slag 2 discharged from a blast furnace 1 from a water spraying device 3, hence the slag is quenched and crushed, and water-granulated slag is produced. The granulated slag is settled and separated by a settling device 5, scraped by a screw 6, and transported to the outside of the system by a conveyor 7. Meanwhile, the circulating water separated from the slag is treated by a series of circulating water treating devices such as a settling tank 13, a hot water tank 16, a pump 17, a cooling tower 20, a cold water tank 22, and a pump 23, and the lightweight slag is separated from the circulating water by the remover 31 provided in the circulating water line and removed. The separated lightweight slag is then dehydrated by the dehydrator 32, transported to the outside of the system through a storage tank 33, and utilized as a heat-insulating material.
