Abstract
PURPOSE: To treat the waste liquid resulting from the fermentation of the waste molasses in an energy saving manner by a method wherein the waste liquid is burned after it is concentrated by a multistage concentration step in the industry of fermentation in which the waste molasses as a by-product is used as a raw material for the production of sucroses from sugar cane.
CONSTITUTION: The waste liquid is introduced into a circulation line of a primary concentrator 2 from a supply line and is concentrated through a heat exchanger 3 and an evaporation drum 4 with the result that the water content in the liquid is evaporated and discharged through a condenser 5. On the other hand, the concentrated waste liquid is introduced into a secondary concentrator 8 through a line 7 where it is further concentrated in the like manner and is then introduced into a final concentrator 14 through a line 13. The concentrated liquid in the final concentrator 14 is heated by a high temperature waste gas discharged from a fluidized furnace 19 during which a greater part of ash particles contained in the gas is collected by the waste liquid and is returned to the furnace 19 through a line 18. Further, the high temperature waste gas deprived of the ash content or the like is introduced into a heat exchanger 9 of the secondary concentrator 8. Thus, the concentrated product with extremely reduced water content is burned within the fluidized furnace 19.
