Abstract

PURPOSE: To utilize energy effectively, by using a waste from a distilling column partically for diluting raw material molasses, and using the concentrate of the remaining waste as a fuel for a steam generating apparatus.
CONSTITUTION: Molasses 2, diluting water 3 and an acid 4 are mixed in a treating tank 1, and sludges 6 are removed. After sterilizing in a sterilizing step 7, the resultant mixture is diluted with a waste liquor from a distilling step 14 and then subjected to the alcoholic fermentation in a main fermenter 9. A yeast 13 is recovered in a yeast recovering step 12, and the waste liquor after removing ethanol 15 in the distilling step 14 is partially sent through a circulating path 16 to a diluting step 8, and the rest is concentrated in an autovapor compression type evaporator 17 and burned in a boiler 18 to generate superheated steam. The resultant superheated steam is then used as a power source for a power generating turbine 25 and a steam compressor 24, and the exhaust gas therefrom is used as heat sources for the sterilizing step 7 and the distilling step 14.
